Seriously good roastery. I recently purchased a good drip coffee machine, the Technivorm Moccamaster KBT, and have been geeking out trying more than a dozen different types of single origin beans.
Quintessa's California Poppy is still one of my favorites of the bunch. Some of the coffees I tried from online sources were $5-10 more than what Quintessa charges for a 12oz BYOB of beans. Some of the online sourced coffees I tried where a lighter roast than what Quintessa offers. Therefore, they had more fruity notes, which often (always?) comes at the price of more acidity. The California Poppy is just crazy smooth and tasty. It is very well balanced, and while some coffees I have to be in the right mood for, I think I will be keeping my stock of Quintessa's coffee filled indefinitely. For my own taste, I can't ask for a better balance of acidity to bitterness than what I get from that roast. They also give a modest discount for bringing your own bag, tin, or container for a refill of beans. That's a cool touch that promotes sustainability. Oh, and their espresso is also on point.
Thank you to the Quintessa staff for all the hard work. I am aware of how much effort goes into making consistently tremendous roasts, and I am grateful to have a place like that so...
Read moreDELICIOUS! Probably the best coffee you can get in the Five Cities area. I started picking up bags of their freshly roasted beans to grind at home and there really is a noticable improvement in flavor over storebought grounds, even for a coffee novice like myself. Check the back of the bags to find the freshest beans!
I wish they had more pastries, they're always out by the time I get there. Their menu is kind of confusing and vague. But all their espresso drinks are fantastic (especially the mocha). They're open pretty late for a coffee shop, which is a huge plus. They have tea and beer as well but I haven't tried them. If you love coffee you must give this...
Read moreProbably my favorite coffee spot on the central coast. This place makes me feel like I’m actually in civilization lol after being gone for 20 years there is very limited coffee options until you get into AG / SLO - sorry if I sound bougie but it’s the truth. They have fire organic coffee here and they make tasty non-caffeinated drinks for kids we got something they called a vanilla steamer it was really good. This place has the raw beans right there in the sacks, the coffee roaster right there in the middle of the room, and a bunch of bulk coffee for purchase as well. If you like good coffee you won’t be disappointed. They have another...
