First time being with my kiddo. They have a decent selection of trains from the railroad out in the yard, in addition to model train layouts and other memorabilia from the days of the railroad. The trains in the yard are a mix of diesel engines, freight cars, and passengers. The model train layouts were decent, encompassing different scales such as HO, N, and possibly O. I found all the layouts to be decent, but I prefer HO. They also have a video about the history of the railroad, which was interesting because it covered the history till the end. I didn't realize how many of the rail lines are still in use today by SEPTA and other entities. In addition, I also didn’t know how big the railroad was at its peak and the areas it served. One thing that was interesting for me was the rail yard tower controls from Reading Terminal, Philadelphia. This was especially interesting for me since I grew up in the Philadelphia area and have been to the market in the Reading Terminal train depot. When they first mentioned where the controls came from, I was shocked because it's easily 20 feet long and seemed to be too big to fit in a rail yard tower.

The staff at this museum were wonderful!!! They were setting up the Christmas train while we visited and even gave a personal run of one of the setups. My son loved playing with some of the wooden trains in the lobby area. He also enjoyed some of the trains with interactive push buttons. The day was cold and windy so he didn’t have a very long attention span for the large outside trains. I found the history of the trains wonderful but it would have been better to visit without my son to see the outside trains or do split parenting to allow my son to stay inside to play.

Staff are so nice and welcoming, I was walking around trying to see if I can find a car with control stands, it was like a simulation I think, and the man said it was closed for special events and such, but then he took me to it, and let me check it out, I also love that the trains are old, it gives them a really cool look, please go here if you like trains like me, the staff is so friendly. I also love taking photos of trains, I recently started to edit them, they tuned out nice.

The two gentlemen who work the museum are endearing but it is a place for adult railroad aficionados. The children did not enjoy even though they had a little table with a model of a town and a working railroad. It is a tiny place, with maybe three old trains in the back of which you get a nice little informative introduction to. The place itself is very dated even for a museum and we made the mistake of parking far away and walking, the area is desolate and outright creepy. There was however a really magical house.and garden that we passed on the way to it which come to think of it made me feel like I just passed the candy house from...

This is an excellent local railroad museum, focusing solely on the Reading Railroad. The equipment collection is impressive, inside and outside. Locomotives, freight cars, passenger cars, station equipment, model railroads, historical displays, etc. If you like trains and history, it is a great place to visit. There are even activities for children, including toy trains to play with, and hand cranked cars they can ride on outside. They also have a well stocked store inside, featuring a lot of different railroad merchandise including clothing, books, models and more. I definitely...
