was a waste of my time and money. Don't get me wrong the gentleman running the counter was extremely friendly. I was recommended this shop by the local t-mobile store. I went in for water damage to my phone. Upon first inspection he told me with how my phone looked he was hopeful and there wouldn't be an issue so i paid and left. Dropped the phone off around 11:20 and didn't hear anything all day. Got a call around 5:20 pm and was unable to answer. Called back several times and the phone just rang then would disconnect. Decided to drive there before they closed. When i got there i was told there was nothing they could do that the water damage was too great and my phone would require a specialist. Which would require additional days and more money) So money down the drain. Might as well have taken a $100 bill and set it on fire. Money spent with zero gain. I feel like there should be some kind of charge for the time spent to look into repairing the phone but since recovery wasn't possible i don't feel like i should be charged the entire fee. I did have a 20 coupon from the t-mobile store so after taxes i paid around $85 for them to hand me back a phone that was in the same condition it was dropped off in. It was dry when brought in so not sure how much water was sucked out of it and if the motherboard was fried i feel like at that point they should know nothing can be done and inform the customer and do a partial refund. $85 is a lot of money for no change. I think payments should be made at pick up instead of drop off. And if nothing was able to be fixed, charge someone for some time spent and not the full repair fee for a non repair.
update Got a message from Evan that he would give me a call after leaving the review. Not sure if i missed the call or if it was unable to go through BUT i did receive a refund. They reached out after they did not have to and changed the situation to my favor. This shows integrity and care! Thank you for understanding...
Read moreI had what I feel was both a good and bad experience with Evo repairs. I feel that the price point for the service provided was good and fair, they kept me well informed of any price changes and were clear about the deposits upfront coming off final costs. I had a phone screen repaired that was quick and easy, and they put on a screen protector I had already purchased for me. I’m not impressed by the lack of communication between staff with what was going on with my desktop and what state of repair it was in. We were upgrading ram for a bsod memory management issue, which involved checks of the cpu and other softwares. I also inquired about a cleaning since they were already going to be opening it up and getting this case off blows. I asked if it was possible to add new ram to the existing ram and they told me that they could add it on due to having 4 slots as long as it was compatible and not causing the issue. When I picked it up, they told me they were “pretty sure” all 4 were installed after I asked and they told me they could do it come to find out that they only installed the new and trashed the old. I’m still unsure if it could’ve been the old ram causing the issue because I didn’t get a straight answer. The length of time they took to run all necessary diagnostics was reasonable and made sense, but a phone call once a day with an update would’ve been appreciated. I felt like I was rushed off the phone or never calling at a good time, and all in all wish that my requests were fulfilled or followed up on, as the cleaning also...
Read moreBrought my phone in because I had my entire screen cracked and could not use my phone at all. They did a great job fixing my phone (at least I thought) and did so at a quick pace. However, the next day I brought my phone back because I had a random white beam going up the side of my screen. They did fix this as it was under warranty and then I had no problems. Fast forward 3-4 months, (today) I had some more issues with my phone screen and had to bring my phone in to get the screen fixed at a different store in Illinois. After getting my phone fixed at this new store, I was told by the technician there that whoever had fixed my phone before did a very rushed job. He told me that they did not bother to clean the old adhesive that holds the screen to the phone, and instead put more adhesive over it. He also said there was lots of gunk and dirt in this area that was causing pressure on my phone screen. On top of that, he also said that there was a screw missing in my phone that was never replaced. I’m very disappointed because I had to pay for the same service again and I am broke college student.
UPDATE Evan was very helpful and gave me a call the next day trying to help me solve my issue. He gave me a refund and made sure that I was well taken care of. I am very happy how he handled this situation as it shows he truly cares for his business. Would recommend EVO repairs and will go back here in the future, as he assured me this was a rare mistake which I 100% believe. Great business, even better...
