Update 5/15/25: I’m increasing my stars because I have been back with some friends who have been dying to try Andy’s and I have seem some improvements. I think they have been working towards better training and caring for their customers and some of the employees I would say that weren’t so pleasant, I haven’t seen in my last two visits. It’s good to see that this location is finally starting to improve since I love Andy’s as a company so much.
I absolutely love the Andy’s chain custard, the flavors are always consistent and delicious. I’be been a loyal Andy’s fan for over 15 years since my first taste back in 2008. The service at this Hammond location however, needs improvement. I’ve been about 5 times in the last 2 months and the employees need to improve. Once, one couldn’t tell me what was in a signature concrete and then just stared at me like I was suppose to look it up on my own, another time I couldn’t hear the cashier cause she was speaking so quietly and each time I asked her to speak up was no better, each employees looks miserable and have no joy in their eye, another time the cashier was talking to their friend that was visiting more than me as I was waiting at the window to be served, and almost every time I’ve been I’ve had to tell them to correct something either with my order or the store like when they have Closed signs on all their windows when they are clearly open and even though I’ve pointed it out maybe 3 times they only corrected it once. I’m just very disappointed in the staff here and makes me not want to continue coming to this location if they can’t making changes.
Update: I went back today to give them one more try. They still don’t have it together and have zero customer service skills. When my order was wrong, even the manager rolled their eyes and was rude. I maybe could have corrected my order before it was made if the cashier would repeat back my order or maybe even just give me a copy of my receipt, but they still don’t have a clue what they are doing. Read moreFirst, I want to state the employees are very nice. I see a review that is just plain horrific, complaining about the way they talk. I know I'm leaving a 3 star review, but I want it VERY CLEARLY STATED that my review is not about the employees. They were sweet and helpful and I'm actually really disgusted by the 1 star review tearing into them. The employees are incredibly polite and I'm sad to see them bashed that way.
The treats are also very delicious. My issue with Andy's and why I'm choosing to leave a 3 star review is that for a place that seems to encourage a family setting, there are no sugar free options. We went there for the first time today and were let down that there were no sugar free options or plans to add any. I understand you guys might do well without any, but as a family friendly atmosphere, having options everyone can enjoy would be nice.
That all said, I want to end my review by adding that I don't think people should not go here. You absolutely should go here if you want a frozen treat. Nice employees, tasty treats. It's good place overall, I just hope they consider adding a few sugar free options to the menu so that diabetics and people with other dietary restrictions can...
Read moreOne star because it was basic stuff that got screwed up, nothing complicated. I grew up going to the original Andy's locations in Osage Beach, Missouri. I may have high standards coming from the original, but this location is just not good. The staff looks miserable or too busy goofing off. Starting with them not being able to figure out how to ring up a scoop of vanilla with sprinkles and looking at us to order something different. Then we got our order and the concrete was mixed only on the top and was missing ingredients, it was literally just blackberry and chocolate, and my husband's cherry soda float was all cherry syrup and no carbonation. It was young kids in there talking and goofing around, have fun at work I get it, but there was no communication with us and we just didn't want to waste time trying to have them fix it.
