I went to Let's Play Games and Hobbies about a week ago, and had high expectations. When I got into the store, I can gladly say that these expectations were not just met, they were blown away. Brent, one of the partners of Let's Play, was an amazing individual who was very knowledgeable about the vast array of games they had on display. He answered all my questions, and through out conversation he found games which seemed to go with my interests. I could have easily sat there and talked with him for hours.
The selection of games is astonishing, rivaling that of any comic shop or big retailer. There were games I had never even heard of, and I consider myself a pretty big board game fan. The games are neatly organized allowing anyone to find the right type of game, whether it's a family game, trivia, or even legacy and tabletop RPGs!
There is a large play space available for you and your friends to play games and meet new people, and you can also rent games to play before you commit to their full MSRP. They have light refreshments as well to keep your energy going for even more games to play. A large calendar sits on the back wall of the play area showing you all the upcoming events so you're never oblivious to what they offer. The calendar can also be found on their website and Facebook.
The only thing I wish, is for them to do financially better than they already are and hopefully move to a spot with off the street parking. That's not even that big of a deal as there are many spots you can park in with meters that let you stay for 2 1/2 hours +. Additionally, Let's Play is kind enough to offer free quarters for people to use to pay the meters. What nice people!
If you're interested in board gaming, already are, or want to see what the buzz is all about, I can't recommend to you enough to come and visit this wonderful shop full of...
Read moreI cannot tell you how happy I was when I saw that Let's Play was opening up right down the street from my new house. I went there with my boyfriend on the grand opening and even though it was crowded the workers there were willing to answer and walk us through any game. Today we went back looking to get some new games for a weekend getaway with friends. We were expecting to go in, grab some of the games they have available for rent (amazing idea), and sit there going over what sounds cool. What we got was personal recommendations based on what we were looking for and our group size. Brent helped us so much. He was so knowledgable about the selection they had and willing to help. He even sat us down and played a few games with us so we could really understand the rules and get a feeling for it. Even when it started to get busy and he had to leave us to go help people, he never just left. He excused himself in a timely manner to make sure everyone was happy. We left with tmwo games we are so excited to play! I can't wait to go back again...
Read moreI just moved to the area a few months ago and found myself with some extra time on my hands, so I walked into Let’s Play. I am a returning player of Magic: The Gathering after a 20 year break. I didn’t know what to expect after so much time away from the game, but the staff here immediately made me feel comfortable enough to dive back in. The vibes in this store are great and I encounter players from every skill level, beginners to experts, at every event I’ve attended here so far. The guys who work here, Miles, Austin and Cole are super knowledgeable, friendly and down-to-earth. Their board game rental system is something cool that I’ve never seen before. Pro tip: check out trivia night on the last Thursday of every month, you will not regret it. I’d go above 5 stars...
