Harlingen Convention Center — Attraction in Harlingen

So while this is a very nice place and can hold a lot of people. Management doesn't seem to mind doing construction during a time when you are having a major convention. Such as putting up a Christmas tree during a birding Festival in the first weeks of November with forklifts and trucks that block the drives for people to be dropped off, especially in the rain. It was only a few days so they could have waited until afterward, but they decided that the Christmas trees were more important than the people they rented the convention center to. So keep this in mind. The manager did not intervene when asked to clear the way for people and exhibitions outside. It was raining, so some of the exhibitions, like the birding show, had to be held under the shelters. One bird even got caught up in a fan that the wind was blowing under another shelter because they couldn't use the main entrance for the show because it was blocked with trucks. Thankfully, the bird is okay. Certainly need better business management. And the irony of it all is that it is not even...

I can't say much about the actual convention center but I do have to congratulate the city of Harlingen and its employees for the tremendous display of organization, professionalism and good down to earth attitude during today vaccination drive. I took my son for his appointed time and despite the long lines, the whole procedure went quite smooth and relatively fast, I was impress by the friendliness of everybody involved in the process even though they were there for quite some time and attending quite a bit of a crowd. Very clean new place. No quick entry from the parking lot to entrance door. You can walk through landscaped area or all the way around front circle. Several cars were parked at front circle with no one in the and no one unloading. Inside NO AMERICAN FLAG found anywhere. This is a public place supported by the city of Harlingen. Having a flag outside the building is not enough. How about a Texas flag and also our neighboring country Mexico. Spoke to Director of the facility and got told "NO flags needed....
