I live in San Antonio and frequently shop at the local Bass Pro Shop. I've driven by the Harlingen location several times over the years and never had the time to stop. The other day, I found myself with some time to kill and purposely made a point to see what they had. For the footprint that this location has from the outside, I was certainly disappointed when I traversed the inside. Some findings: They have 8-10 gun rack arches on the wall. each arch holds 12-15 long guns. Their stock was compressed and only the 2 center arches were filled. This included .22's to Shotguns. This store has the usual amount of handgun cases, but it had very little inventory. Some cases were empty and the other had the guns spread out to take up shelf space. I checked out their ammo and found only shotgun shells and a very minimal amount of odd caliber ammo. 70% of the shelves were empty. I do like their casual clothing, so I wandered over to the Men's Department. A very good selection of their Redhead brand, but I like the Bob Timberlake brand for the fit and a little more upscale in style. They did not have any! They did have Carhartt, but not even close to the selection in San Antonio. Columbia and UnderAmour were available. Just a limited selection. I'm not a fisherman, so I apologize, I didn't even walk through that area. A couple of side notes: This store has the outside appearance of being a two story building, but it's not. Just a one story with a very, very high ceiling. IMO, a great loss of a square footage opportunity. If you're shopping for Bass Pro T-shirts, caps, Koozies and Yeti, this is your store. Credentials? I was in Retail soft-lines management for many years and also oversaw the opening of Corporate Stores. I know what to look for and can walk a store of this size in 20-30 minutes and tell you what's going on and what's not. This store is being starved for some reason ie: Low sales or mismanagement. Bass Pro has truly progressed to the top of this Retail Market. Out maneuvering Cabello's and eventually absorbing them. I have no chip in the game, I'm retired. I'm hoping someone in their Corporate Office reads this review and gets back in the game. This is a great location for this store, due to the expansive hunting and fishing market. Their only competitor locally, is Academy Sports & Outdoors. It would certainly be a shame for this to be an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI Just purchased the 2019 Mako 15 with 60hp Sat. 5/18/19 from the Harlingen Bass Pro. A 30 mile maiden voyage on the Arroyo Colorado completed yesterday. Great service from sales staff, All were quick to assist where needed. Boat was awesome on the water. No issues noted anywhere.
June 24 Update. Awesome service after the sale. I had an issue with the live well and depth finder...come to find out, both were user errors (me :) ... They were even willing to meet me at the boat ramp and guide me through the basics for no charge...I'm soooo glad I bought my boat from Bass Pro in Harlingen...A 1st class organization...
Jan. 16, 2020 Update... A few months after purchase I noticed some small spider hairline cracks coming out from the navigation socket. I hadn't noticed them before but figured it was from the dealer mounting of the socket... an email was sent to Roland Galvan who mentioned to bring it down then or after fishing season so they could have a look. I chose to wait till winter. 5 days ago I brought him the boat to have a look. I have the boat back now and the repair is like the small spider cracks never happened. An absolutely 5 star repair with super fast customer service. And, at no cost to me at all... Yes I do have the premium protection plan. yet no one gave any hint of trying to say it was my fault, or related to other minor dings from bumps at the boat ramp. Kirk, -one of there mechanics- answered my questions on motor flushing and motor care with professional courtesy and spot on instructions. My little 15 ft. Mako gets heavy use yet nothing has broke, rusted, or quit working. If by chance you are reading reviews to determine where to buy your boat, I'd say go with Bass Pro....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI believe in mental clarity while making honest reviews so here is mine.
My under 21yrs old waiting period lasted 13 days.
Phone was hung up by store phone purposely 3 times.
Rifles were handed over with PROPER RESPECT.
My firearm and the ones who were bought around me were kept in EXCELLENT CONDITION without need for minor cleaning before handing over to its new owner.
Lacked a bit of oil everywhere so I bought wd-40 spray grease lubricant because it's my responsibility to buy proper maintenance.
First 10 shots (except it's virgin shot) never jammed and iron sights are amazing if you need glasses. If you were born normal and stayed that way then iron sights would be even better.
I literally walked out of the store with the rifle in it's box and no Adult supervision so pretty cool for my first firearm purchase experience.
The caucasian white guys working there are Honest and crazy respectful with a great aura of getting the job done and explaining to you what you need or help you find what you want.
The Hispanic guys working there helped me feel Like I'm welcomed and were verry eager to help. I would compare them to a dictionary that physically shows you what you need and why you need it.
Probably because they are mostly older than the other firearm salesman. But anyways......
