China Pantry — Restaurant in Harlingen

I've been supporting this place for 20 years maybe a little more than that. I don't know what happened ever since they moved out of the mall, they insist upon themselves, they treat me like I'm lucky to order their food and are really rude and condescending in past times I've gone by. I didn't like the way they were yelling at one of their employees in front of me and friends today and then proceeded to be very very rude to my friend ordering food. I feel bad writing this review but their behavior disgusted me and friends enough to make me get online and have to write this review. After the first few times of rude treatment I was just like whatever, but you know what it's uncalled for. Totally unprofessional. TOTALLY unprofessional. I don't think I'll be supporting this place anymore. Like come on, 20 plus years of support gone because ya'll think it's ok to be yelling at customers and employees????? Get it together...

My family and I used to own a restaurant. So I understand the intense labor of food service.

But if your hours say 9pm, and the doors are locked 20 minutes earlier, that really bothers me. You can publish any hours you'd like. I drove out of my way to go there, thinking I have plenty of time. Close at whatever time you want, but communicate that to your customers.

I understand you want to stop accepting customers earlier so that the staff can get a head start on closing out. That's fine.

Change your times accordingly. Closing early like that feels stingy.

All it takes is 1 bad experience to kill the mood.

SO happy this wasn’t a permanent close and just a relocation. I’ve loved this place for YEARS and they’re still serving great food! I unfortunately walked in 10 minutes to close and they were out of the orange chicken but it’s the most popular request so I didn’t expect a full selection. Can’t go wrong with any other item though! I hope everyone understands that not everything will be available down to the last minute to close. Customer count is always unknown and extra food will be tossed. Wasted food is Wasted money!
