Hard to compare because we did not tried other companies. Manta dive is a must if you go to big Island, it's a mind blowing experience if manta show up.
Compagnies knows that and charge the big price for it. So many boat and so many people, it's q buissness. Those mantas make this people pretty wealthy.
I think this company could do a better job because they book you for 2 dives. They arrive first at the dive spot and make you do a first dive at the same spot you're gonna see the manta.
It's a really boring site in the day. Not much to see and you swim around the place for 45min. This is a waste of time in my opinion. They should make you make the manta dive and then a night dive and you will have it for the money you spend.
I would have skip this first dive.
Aka 600$ US for 2.
Big boat. They do provide everything even hot showers. The manta it self is amazing because of the manta, but they are so many people, you can not moove, you are stock in a place, and need to stay still till the end. No swimming aroud. I understand they do that because there are too many people but still, would be nice to be a bit more free, but it was the same for pretty much every other companies down there.
We went out with then twice. For time (except for this useless first five) did it have to say much, everything was pretty good.
Second time, boats shouldn't have left shore, conditions at sea were really bad and made the journey really less enjoyable for everyone. And they knew (crew told us it was not good condition for manta) those conditions were not favorable for manta and still went out in these intense sea conditions.
So I did not had the feeling they adjusted their dives to their divers unfortunately, it would have make the experience probably beter. I just felt like a student that needed to follow a schedule. We did dive a lot in Hawaii in general and it's better when diving in smaller groups and adjust to the experience of the divers.
Still mantas was a fabulous experience, the boat was well equipped and we did enjoy seeing them.
I love my first experience because of the manta, but not my second because it was literally the same thing in worse condition. so do I recommend? Hmm not sure, maybe check other options that offer more for the price.
UPDATE did not expect the owner to be that salty in his answer. "- 1 star" just relise he mixe me wirh someone else because the answer make no sense to me.
Btw you got the wrong person, I am not the person you state (I'm Stephanie), but clearly you do not accept the review under 5, and I also found rude (and non professional) to shout out names like that (knowing you not addressing the good client, a reason I try to keep my info private)
My experiences and we are advanced divers who dive a lot. FOR my review to deserve a five star it has to be an outstanding experience, mantas are incredible but that doesn't make the company incredible (that's the distinction) and we are literally all in the same spot then the other companies.
Did not want to start any conflict just give my thru...
Read moreBooked 2 tank manta dives with Kona Honu, received email confirmation and liability documents to sign online. Money goes out of my account all is paid for. Arrived at the boat on the dive day and nobody was there. Called them and the lady on the phone says I had called a week before to cancel my dive! And that they cancelled dives that night. Of course I didn’t cancel any dive. They simply made a mistake and cancelled the dive without telling me. I asked to rebook and she suggested diving in a few days. Despite this now being a big inconvenience I say yes. By the way, it didn’t occur to this woman to say ‘I am sorry we screwed up’! The next thing I know I get an email thanking for the new payment!!! They not only cancelled my dive trip, didn’t send me a refund of the first trip and charge me for a second dive WITHOUT my consent. Unbelievable. I had to drive to the shop and complain. Needless to say I Canceled the trip with them and will never book one again. At least the new person I talked to at the shop apologised...
Read moreIncredible! Kimo, Rachel, and Max were staffing the boat for our two dives. The boat was very spacious and not at all crowded. It has a toilet, hot shower, and defogger mask spray that works really well! Make sure to bring two towels (one for each dive) and warm clothing for the night time ride back to shore. This is a concierge service experience, meaning the staff has all of your rental gear set up when you arrive on the boat, they switch your take over after the first dive, they provide snacks, a light meal and hot beverages at the end of the trip. Rachel was our dive guide. She was very knowledgeable about Mantas. She educated us about them prior to the dive which made the experience a lot more enjoyable! Mantas started to come out near the end of our first dive and we saw 17 mantas on our...
