Went to snorkel Bob’s to buy some gear. We wanted masks and snorkels because the hotel we were staying at had fins we could rent, but no masks due to covid restrictions. There were two customers in the store and there was a four customer limit, but it was difficult to see other customers from outside. My dad walked in with a mask on and was immediately told to leave, not in a friendly way. The people inside were not wearing masks, so it didn’t seem to be a covid reason. Then we were outside waiting while my dad went to another store. A man who worked at, or owned the shop, came out and got in my face, I am a short pregnant woman so this was off putting. He asked very rudely what I wanted. I tried to explain to him we wanted masks and snorkels, but no fins. Then he put his hand in my face to stop me from talking and proceeded to tell me different very expensive options including fins and bags, which I had said we didn’t want. Then he tries to tell me we can rent gear and I tried to tell him we did not want to rent gear because we would be snorkeling different days and didn’t want to have to go back and forth for rentals. He interrupted me again, pointing to a sign indicating their options and stated for me to figure out what I wanted and when the other people left I could let him know. We chose to buy cheap gear from a grocery store rather than interact with them or support their business. Normally it is very important for me to support small local businesses, so I was very dismayed by this interaction. It’s possible that us being tourists is what made them so hostile, but it still...
Read moreThe staff was friendly, but the prices for 1 day were high and as a new snorkeler, I felt taken advantage of with the upselling. Additionally, I asked the employee if she had any snorkeling recommendations for beginners (I have done it before but not everyone in my group had). She pulled out a map and spent 10 minutes talking about her favorite beaches and surf reports and what would be good for beginners, which was very lovely. She heavily emphasized 1 beach in particular, circled it, starred it, and wrote it down in big letters, she was very, very insistent about this one beach which was 40 minutes from our hotel. We took her word for it and it ended up being a dangerous and very bad recommendation, especially for beginners. We weren't able to snorkle and we didn't have enough time to go to another beach so the rental ended up being a bust. The equipment worked very...
Read moreWas 'okay' . We rented the chairs, cooler, boogie boards, snorkel gear package. Chairs and cooler were fine, boogie boards were beat up. Was hard to choose ones that weren't peeling apart. The snorkel gear was average at best...I have rented much better quality gear from other stores in the past. Our snorkels didn't clear very easily and the fins were very limp. The defog soap was watery and only average. Other products from other rentals were thicker and lasted longer. We had okay service, but we were first into the store. I could see that others showing up were in for quite a wait and only one staff on hand. We got the impression we were bothering him when we showed up but he was...
