I love Hayward farmers. I used to go every Saturday mornings but have gotten busy during the holidays. A year or so ago the fruits/veggies were super affordable e.g. $2 for Chinese broccoli, lettuce etc... but recently prices have gone up with inflation. I still think some veggies/fruits are much better price than going to grocery store and much fresher. E.g. Thai basil bunch during peak season is $2 and it comes with tons and tons of basil. I can never finish them all so I share with family. You'll find hard to find Asian produce such as Thai eggplant, variety of basil, different types of mushrooms, etc. The vendors are super friendly as well. Parking is via street or in the parking garage which is right on farmer's market. I do miss the flower vendor that used to be here - they probably found another more lucrative location. Later in the morning, many vendors lower their prices to move their merchandise. Plenty of parking in the lot across from Hayward City Hall. Beets were $4 and the cauliflower was $3.50🤷♀️. She seemed more interested in the bags I was carrying. She asked me twice if I wanted to pay for those goods, and twice I said it was mine.
