Hazel Park Ice Arena — Attraction in Hazel Park

I refuse to skate here regularly because:

I hate the size of Olympic ice, so I don’t even bother, but it’s probably not terrible The Pro ice surface is only worth skating on for about 30 minutes before it becomes way too choppy The Pro ice rink is way colder than it probably needs to be

The lobby and snack area seems to be in decent shape, but I’ve never been there when...

The ice has become nearly unplayable. Worse than a poorly maintained pond. There are waves and bumps throughout the ice from the zamboni which clearly has something wrong with it. The 6inch of yellow dasher boards can barely be seen in the corners meaning there is 4-5 inches of ice piled in. Showers do not drain, some nights they are scalding hot and other nights ice...

Can the ice conditions at Viking Arena get any worse? @cityofhazelpark refuses help to resolve it. Can’t see any lines (ice is too thick), chattered surface (poor Zam maint.), uneven ice (poor Zam operation), rough ice (cold water). Mgmt sits in office doing nothing. Shameful.
