Before I got married I weighed 150 lbs and used to be very active. After 12 years of marriage, kids, and years of school and work (seeking a master's degree while working full-time) - I've realized over the years that I've coped with stress by eating - and eating the good stuff, which is typically very unhealthy. I love sugar (growing up my nickname was the cookie monster). Before joining Fit2Serve I weighed over 250 lbs and often felt like a failure (mostly to my wife - I'm not the man she married) as I've slowly been trending upward with my weight over the years. I've tried various ways of losing weight before, which would work for a season but then disappointment would set in as I would gain it back cuz of my relationship with food. I had an idea of what needed to be done but didn't think I had the will power to change. I'm grateful for the few seconds of courage I had to meet with Derek and take on the 6-week challenge. The new diet has transformed my body and believe it or not I no longer crave sugar or soda - I'm now starting week 5 and I've lost 22 lbs! I lost 14 lbs in the first 2 weeks and credit it to Derek and his coaching staff for showing what to eat and how to train during the workouts - which is only 3 hrs/week (3 days/week for 1 hr). If I can do it, anybody can and this is the most effective way to lose weight and build muscle that I've experienced. Although I was sore for the first week and a half, it got easier every workout and now I feel great going into week 5. And I hate shopping for new clothes but the cool thing is my wardrobe is expanding without having to shop because I'm able to wear clothes I've grown out of years ago. My progress toward my goals won't stop at the end of the 6 weeks...this is just the beginning of a new way of life....
Read moreI joined CrossFit2Serve at the end of last year. I had been looking for something more from a gym, what I found was a way of life. At that time I had no idea the impact that it would have on my life less than 4 months later. Recently my wife needed emergency surgery to save her life. She had experienced some serious complications during her pregnancy. Early in the morning on the 17th of February my wife began to bleed internally from these complications. Hours later, after she lost over 60% of her blood, It became apparent that something was seriously wrong. Within minutes of this observation she began to go into shock in our home. I needed to act quickly. Without hesitation I picked her up and carried her through our house and to our vehicle. Within minutes I was able to get her to the ER where she received 7 units of blood to stabilize her for immediate surgery that ultimately saved her life. As I reflect on the last few months and my time at CrossFit2Serve I know that I would not have had the confidence in my strength and ability to physically move my wife the way that I did with such ease and speed. Participating in the workouts each day prepared me for the unexpected, not just physically, but also mentally. I am very aware of the physical limitations that I had prior to CrossFit2Serve. I am confident that I would not have been able to serve my wife, in the way that I did, when she needed me the most. I can't recommend crossfit enough to my friends and family. CrossFit2Serve truly does prepare you for the unexpected. You become fit to serve others.... sometimes they end up being the ones you love most. Thank you...
Read moreWhat makes this place great are the staffs who work hard to guide and support to reach your goal. I melted 26.6 lbs and 9% body fats within short six weeks. If you are 100-150 lbs over your ideal body weight then that might be easy to attain but I was only 40 lbs over my IBW. I really worked my behind off and followed strict diet. They'll guide you what to eat, not to eat ,and how much proportion.
Yes, you can do it yourself but are you really making progress? I tried to lose 1 lb a week and I can't. I lost 4 lbs a week on the average with them. Accountability is really the key to attain your goal. They'll push you to go beyond your limits. You'll get used to being comfortable in uncomfortable state, physically and mentally. In the end of the day, you are proud of yourself.
Heartburn is one thing I have noticed that I don't feel anymore. I do not have the urges for coffee to keep me awake which I do drink for 10 yrs. I get migraine when I skipped coffee in the morning but not anymore. Family and friends says I look younger. More agility and flexible in everyday routine. Before I joined my body hurts (maybe from being human) when I get up from bed but now I really feel better.
Consequence on this is you need new belt, my clothes are way bigger now. You are skinnier than your spouse.
