My handicapped(paralyzed) husband & I being handicapped also, took our 6 grandchildren to see Disney on Ice last Saturday @3:00 pm show. Their ages are 4y/o up to 12y/o. It was raining so I left my husband/grandchildren out of our handicap van in front of building entrance. I went & parked it fortunately in a handicap space . I met up with my grandchildren but lost site of my husband b/c he is in a motorized wheelchair & had to go in another entrance further down away from us. I had a wheeled walker & tha grandchildren went through security with it. I came & had to go through security also. I had a long strapped wallet which had my credit cards in(due to everything being cashless)some other cards from businesses, some medical cards(of heart valve prosthesis & L. Leg knee prosthesis). I was told I couldn’t bring it in b/c it didn’t fit into this styrofoam block they had. I took all my cards out of it & could then get it in the styrofoam block. I had an older security guy & he was nasty, argumentative, telling me if I would have put it in my walker he would allow it. He told me to go stand back b/c other people were angry & impatient b/c they wanted in. We had gotten there before 2:00 pm. When he told me to “go over there to stand” my cane was in back of him & I cannot walk without a cane or walker. He nudged me back toward where he wanted me to stand. My 12 year old granddaughter had to run out in the rain to where my van was parked & put my wallet in the car. I had to carry my credit card in my pocket(fearful I would lose it). When I finally got in with the grandchildren, I had all the tickets, again in my coat pocket, taken from my wallet. I couldn’t find my husband & I had his ticket. He has the onset of dementia & he was clueless where I was with the grandkids. It was an awful scary time for us all. I guess grandparents shouldn’t do things like this with their grandkids. I was only trying to have a fun day & make a memory for the grandchildren to look back on. The parking was also very high! My husband & I live on Social Security(fixed income) & they charged $35.00/car for parking. My suggestion to Hershey would be to have a Senior Citizen price. I wouldn’t have minded paying up to $20.00/car. We did have good experiences with all the food & toy vendors. The show was excellent also. I admired those young people & their talent! I don’t think I’ll be going next...
Read moreThis arena needs some improvements. First the seating is very tight with very little arm and leg room. The seats themselves are small and hard to fit into if you're not petite or pencil thin. There's also very little to no room for people to get in and out of the seating isle. So as far as the seating is concerned there is a great need for improvement. Next, the purse policy is ridiculous and unreasonable. I can understand not allowing backpacks in for safety reasons. My purse would have fit in there little white box, and yet I was told to take my purse back to our family vehicle. All I had in my purse was my wallet, my glasses, my hair comb, and my car keys. Because I wasn't allowed to take my purse in, I had to carry everything in my hands...how inconvenient and stressful! However there were A LOT of people let in the arena with very large purses, backpacks, etc. Some people had MULTIPLE large bags and purses they were taking in...it looked like they were going on vacation. If you are going to have this purse policy then it needs to be followed by EVERYONE. If a person has a small purse or small fanny pack that fits in the little white box then they should be allowed to take their purse in as the policy states. Also, we were approached FIVE times by security for purse size checks....what is that??? That is not necessary, it's unorganized, and unprofessional. Why aren't the purse checks done as one is going through the metal detectors only, instead of security guards walking around randomly while people are standing outside in the freezing cold on a wet rainy day waiting to get in? As for the metal detector goes, my walking cane set the metal detector off. It was easy to see I was walking with a cane, and yet they felt it necessary to body search me.... seriously!?!?! The food is way over priced, the souvenirs are over priced, plus after spending hundreds of dollars for tickets to get into the event being held, your handed a $27-$35 parking fee!?!?!? The seating area's floor was covered with popcorn, etc. because there's not enough staff to help clean up before the next show apparently. Our visit to this arena was very much unpleasant all round. The event itself was awesome but the arena needs A LOT of improvements. Our family will not be coming back to this arena. There are other arenas in the area that hold the same events. If I could I would give this...
