Glik Park — Attraction in Highland

The actual park here is in sad disrepair. A lot of it is broken and unsafe. The baseball fields and soccer field is well kept but everything else is just left alone. The bathrooms were disgusting and smelled horrible. The rec center is also outdated and seems like it hasn't been maintained beyond basic necessities in years, its smaller than even Planet Fitness. For the price they charge for membership I'd expect a newer/updated facility, with more to offer than a small workout area and pool that doesn't have a lot of room for swimming. The whirlpool is fun and the little water tower for kids is nice but the big slide and lap lanes take up the rest of the pool so there's not much area for kids to swim around without bumping into everyone else. You'd be better off going to Edwardsville to the YMCA and it's cheaper then the korte rec center. Kind of sad considering everything else in highland is usually...

This was our first time to this park but I was overwhelmed with how many people couldn't stop talking about how "they let it go" and "this is so sad". The playground was a muddy mess in desperate need of new mulch and overall a lot of tlc. I have to say that it was surprising to find this public space looking like this in highland where everything else is so well kept. Anyway! Great town and great place for ballgames. Fields are nice. Bleachers available. But we take lawn chairs. Concessions available. We are a family of 5, with that said, prices are reasonable.
