Randy Now’s Man Cave is located in a great neighborhood area, with a free parking lot, in Hightstown, NJ right next to Old Hights Brewery. It’s a roomy and very eclectic record store with a large and well-curated selection of records (and lots of rare vinyl) for every genre of music you can think of. The records are neatly organized and you can easily sift through the bins without getting overwhelmed or constantly bumped into.
Aside from the records, Randy Now’s also sells vintage memorabilia, CDs, 8-Tracks, toys, books and even personalized “Randy Now” sodas. I spent what felt like hours just looking through some cool old promo pictures that were for sale!
Randy and his staff are incredibly friendly + knowledgeable about records. They love to “talk shop”, learn about your tastes and give solid, personal recommendations based on your music interests. I loved getting to hear Randy’s talk about his radio show and his fascinating stories about the shows that he put on at City Gardens (RIP) in Trenton. The vibe walking into this shop is VERY POSITIVE and you are NOT going to experience staff with “holier than thou” attitudes.
I've found prices on most things to be comparable to what you could get them for online but without question, supporting this gem of an indie record store is the far better deal. There are even several bargain crates where you can pick 4 records for $10.
Also, I strongly suggest checking out the documentary, “Riot on the Dance Floor: Story of Randy Now and City Gardens”. It will make you love this little record store (and Randy!) even more.
WHAT I PURCHASED: Operation Ivy (a hard-to-find EP), a 2 Volume Beatles Import, Rolling Stones, Willie Nelson, Alice in Chains, Jesse Malin and...
Read moreI actually found this shop quite by chance. My Papa passed and I am acting Administrator of his estate. He had a bunch of memorabilia that I, unfortunately, had to sell. As there was a mix of items, I wanted to go to an expert; yes, I know I could have sold everything on eBay, but that would have taken a very long time, and I'm not very eBay savvy. Thankfully, I found Randy Now's Man Cave, called, and went right over with the items. Randy was wonderful! I know a little bit about some of the items, and that collectible values go up and down. Randy was very honest with me, and I was pleased to see that some of the items were desirable. I was very pleased with their offer (his wife, who is wonderful as well, is his partner and I love that!) and relieved that this was so painless. In fact, the compassion and empathy shown made this all the more painless.
Now for the shop itself. If you are a fan of any music at all, you will find it here. If you love weird and wacky, you'll find it here as well. And Randy is a font of knowledge, and I could have listened to his anecdotes all day. So if you're looking to find the perfect album to add to your collection, or an interesting piece of memorabilia straight from your childhood, you'll find it here. Of you're looking to rehome part or all of your music and movie memorabilia collection, give them a call. I can't wait to go back and browse more, and I cannot say enough good things about Randy, his wife, and the customers that he all addressed as if they were friends dropping by to visit. It's rare to get that kind of...
Read moreI always meant to get back to writing my review, and since then have been here many times, mostly for shows with a few times to shop cds. I'm so glad with the consistent level of excellence Randy runs things. The acts he brings are top notch, and a good, no, great time is always had by folks who go there. And, while I can't make every show as I'd love to, the shows I do get to have been stellar. Take, for instance EXTC. Just a fabulous night for the band and the audience, with not just great music, but so much fun was had in between each other! It's an immeasurable part, something that you can't quantify that only happens at certain venues, on certain nights, and it happens more frequently here than at other places I go. I firmly blame Randy, his wife and staff, for that! It was an honor to introduce scrapple to Terry, Steve and Matt of EXTC and have them love it! Ha! Lastly, as an example of how people love this place, after the most recent show I went to(Palmyra Delran) members of the audience actually stuck around to help clear chairs and get things in order(as much as they could, and in New Jersey, that's a pretty...
