I received the body scrub and lymphatic massage. Unfortunately this experience fell short of both the luxury described in other reviews, and my other experiences with saunas, Korean scrubs, and massages.
A few things I hope the owners will change for future clients:
Upon arriving, I was taken to my locker and told “there’s your top and bottom” as they pointed to two teeny tiny folded up papers that when unwrapped, appeared to be giant medical masks. When I went back to get instructions on what in the world I was supposed to do with these items, they explained that one was a paper thong, and the other was a backless paper bra. Good grief. I know we’re in Utah, but these were unhelpful, uncomfortable, and a consistent hindrance. Just let me be naked under my robe like with any other spa or massage. Offer them up as an option if people are concerned about modesty, but please don’t make them mandatory/default. If sanitary concerns are an issue with the sauna, I would have much preferred being given the option to wear my own swimsuit for that portion. (And that portion only) The one size fits all bra did NOT fit my very average sized body (because how on earth is that supposed to truly stay on anyone) and instead I was continually putting my boob back into the uncomfortable paper medical mask as it tried to float away. Wearing wet disposable underwear (trying to protect your staff from my apparently scandalous boobs) while receiving a scrub and massage was uncomfortable and unnecessary, it truly hindered my ability to have a relaxing experience and hindered their ability to do their job. I’m not normally big into the #FreeTheTitties movement, but at least when we’re getting a massage, please!
The sauna temperature was nowhere near what I’m used to in both in-home and public saunas, saying it was a low 125-133, but feeling even cooler. If VASA can handle the liability of letting me sweat, I think it should be safe for you to do the same. I was also confused by the instructions to set wet towels covering my entire body during the sauna session in what was supposed to be an infrared sauna? Shouldn’t the skin see the light for infrared benefits?? (Also please tell your staff to keep the door closed when delivering instructions or asking questions, holding the sauna door open for even just a full minute significantly lowers the temperature)
The scrub was fine, but unfortunately nowhere near the experience I’ve had at Korean spas in other states, a gentle scrub even though I asked for the firmest setting - I want to be rubbed raw and come out feeling like a newborn babe, this was the same level of exfoliation I do at home on myself on a regular basis.
While I understand that lymphatic massage will not perfectly mimic other forms of massage, I was surprised to find that some lymphatic best practices (such as the order of drainage, activating the lympha before and after a quadrant was finished) were not followed, and I was MOST surprised and disappointed that the lymphatic massage did not include the face/head. As someone who regularly does dry brushing and lymph massage on myself, I was shocked when the massage suddenly ended without addressing the lymph system of face. It left me feeling both confused because there was so much emphasis in advertising and instruction on “depuffing” and incomplete as that is the standard ending for all massages I’ve been to unless I specifically request they skip the head and face.
All around, a disappointing experience that felt hindered by what appeared to be intentional choices by the owners to take shortcuts and cater to Utah modesty culture...
Read moreThe one word that comes to mind after visiting Seshin is, “Rejuvenated”! I received the signature full body scrub with a glass skin facial. I am getting married in one week and this was the perfect spa to go to before my wedding! I had Amber as my esthetician and she is so amazing! You start off by walking to the dressing room where you get your own personal locker. Inside is a bottle of water, robe, slippers, and disposable underclothes. They have amazing refreshments as well! You will then take a nice rinse in their mineral water shower. Step into an infrared sauna and listen to a great podcast that will send you into an extreme relaxed state. After, you will receive the actual scrub which takes LITERALLY all of your dead skin off! I could actually see so much skin rolling off my body! Another nice rinse down and then it’s time for the facial! They use some amazing Korean skincare for the entire facial. The neck and shoulder massage was my personal favorite! The entire time I felt so special and relaxed. I highly recommend Seshin for your next spa day! I wish I would’ve brought my bridesmaids here as well because this would be a perfect add on to a...
Read moreMy skin is still so smooth! I had a wonderful experience at Seshin Korean Scrub Spa and I still can’t believe how much dead skin came off and how refreshed it looks. I chose the full body scrub with the glass facial add on. I started with the sauna to prep my skin which was really relaxing and then had my whole body scrubbed down. After the scrub was a nice a little massage that helped me feel so relaxed. My skin continues to glow and I’m still surprised at how much better my skin has been holding moisture, which is huge considering what Utah’s dry winters do to my skin.
I also got the glass facial, which just completed the whole experience. I feel refreshed, moisturized, and smooth head to toe. One of the little touches that stood out was having my own name tag on the locker when I arrived. It made the experience feel thoughtful and welcoming. The amenities were spotless, and the whole space had a calm, relaxing vibe that made it easy to unwind.
Ill definitely be coming back to get this skin glow going again. It took years...
