SM Sushi — Restaurant in Holladay

Holy shieeet this place is incredible value. If you're looking to come here for a date and have a nice atmosphere and dine in experience, you'll be disappointed. If you're looking for low dollar high value sushi you'll be very satisfied.

We got 3 of their special rolls togo for $40. The crunchy Tuna was 3/5, crunchy California 4.5/5, and Playboy was 5/5. This will be a weird detail, but I've never liked cucumber in rolls, and the cucumber in the Playboy was fresh like it was just picked and added more to the roll than I've had before. It wasn't just crunchy and lightly cucumber flavored, but refreshing like in a cold cucumber salad and leaned toward crisp. The rolls were neatly packed, didn't fall apart, and didn't look like the inside of a sausage with indistinct fillings. The cream cheese looked like it was a tiny rectangle block, like the ones you learn to count with as a kid. Tobiko, tuna, salmon, fish cake all was fresh. Bacon on the Tuna Crunch was refrigerated and could have been a day or two old (I've had my fair share of prepped refrigerated bacon bits from keto dieting).

If this place did catering I would have loved to have them at my wedding for an open bar type deal to do just 3 different rolls and nigiri tuna, salmon, and shrimp.

Killer value at this place. Not the best sushi I've had (I've been to Nobu, Sushisamba, and Takashi) but at this price point, it's barely below Itto...

Not sure what all the 5 star reviews are about. My wife and I figured we'd give this place a shot while passing through SLC and it was some of the worst sushi we've ever had. The sashimi combo we ordered wasn't fresh at all, all cuts of fish (salmon, tuna, yellowtail) were chewy and dry. The sushi rolls we got were on par with gas station sushi, the salmon avocado roll had mushy rice and the avocado wasn't fresh either. The volcano roll had very rubbery octopus. The best thing we ordered was the cucumber salad. I'm usually not one to complain about sushi but we didn't even finish our food because it was so bad, which felt like a ripoff at $60. The sushi chef was friendly and pick-up was reasonable (20 mins) so at least they have that going. Steering clear of this...

Excellent! Delightful owner Sam and wife run good restaurant indeed! Clean, Undiscovered Gem ! Good rolls... I got the spider with the whole crab cut up in it.. well prepared. Well above average teriyaki chicken with a well presented salad and correctly done rice.. AND good yummy tempura veggies with asparagus, sweet potatoes, broccoli, mushrooms, at a reasonable price and NO WAIT! The blue walls and shielded outside atmosphere is quiet and inviting. There is a single TV in in the middle of a big huge deep sea blue wall.. awesome to go as the smoke shop is right next door and classic arcade across the parking lot. There is serenity and live here. They also deliver.....update still...
