We took a cruise out of Fort Lauderdale, and we always arrive a day or two early to enjoy the local area. Rather than a corporate hotel in Fort Lauderdale, we were very happy to discover Hollywood beach, a wonderful community just south of the cruise port. There are a variety of lodgings, but we were intrigued by Hollywood Beach, a small town between the ocean and the inland waterway. There were several small motels to pick from, and we couldn't be happier with Waves on Desoto. ||From our first contact, they made us feel welcome and asked if we had any special needs. They told us about local dining and food purchase options. They had free courtesy bikes. As it happens, the bikes were not in optimal shape when we arrived but they instantly sent a repairman that brought them all up to snuff, and we had no problems with them. ||The room was large and comfortable, with no issues at all. The new air conditioner was one of the quietest I have ever used. The bedding and other amenities were perfect. It is a small property, and the lower rooms are right beside the pool area, so it wasn't a good idea to leave curtains open when people were using the pool, but that wasn't' a problem. ||The property is not the newest around, so some of the fixtures, such as the bath, were a bit dated and showing their age, but that wasn't the slightest problem at all. We have plenty of chances to stay in new fancy corporate places, and this place had a very wonderful, homey feel. ||There isn't an on-site check in office, because one company manages about four nearby locations, but any calls to the management were handled instantly. We felt very much welcome and at home.||Stay in Hollywood Beach, have dinner at the nearby Tiki restaurant, and ride the free bikes to the center of the thriving beach district a mile away. ...
Read moreSo my sister rented this place out for one night and I'm so glad it was only one night. When we check in it was just after coming from the beach, the first thing we noticed about the room was that there was no towels or wash rags My sister proceeded to ask the manager about that and he stated That the hotel does not supply those things. So as you can see that took me off guard because I never really been to a place that didn't do that but anyway we proceeded to move on the day So then there's no TV in the main bedroom only in the living room and the TV didn't work. It was a Roku TV so the batteries in the remote we thought needed changed, tried to ask for batteries only the owner to tell us that the front office was closed and that somebody will soon be there after going back and forth with my sister, it took an hour to finally get the batteries and after thinking it was the remote realize no the TV just don't work. The water pressure in the bathroom was very weak. Let me remind you it was cold outside that day so that one day us and the kids had to sit in the room with nothing. So if you are going I would recommend bringing a tablet charge or something or realize it's going to be quiet and you better have towels. It was $140 a night and it's non-refundable. Management does not do much if you have a problem and besides being on the beach it really wasn't worth the money. Also just a recommendation if you are a parent who smoke cigarettes or anything it's not the right setting You're not allowed to smoke on the property so for people who have kids you have to go all the way outside and around off the property to smoke. No loud music is allowed don't try to have a party there not even music by the pool which is another thing that just shocked me because you have a pool but have no towels...
Read moreWell this place is very close to the beach but it really needs some updating.. youâll see things broken from the second you walk in the property.. itâs been neglected for a long time. Iâll let you judge from the pictures..||Check in process was a joke.. was supposed to receive an email with room code but only after I email the property manager and paid the cleaning fee was I sent the room code, which by the way didnât work on our 3 rd day there.. lucky the cleaning person was there and after about 15 minutes was able to reprogram the lock.||The walls really are paper thin..you could hear complete conversations from the room next door.. donât expect to get a good nights sleep if you have people in the room next to you that stay up late.||Trash was overflowing from the trash containers at the entrance from the day we checked in and was still overflowing on the day we left.. this was even after I sent a picture to the property manager and was told it would be cleaned up..this was especially annoying since you had to empty your own trash. No place to put it.||WiFi and TV weâre also horrible.. got the cirvke of doom while watching Tv and the wifi for our phone would only work if we went outside our room.. go figureâŠ||Canât plug the coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator in at the same time.. only 2 at a time.||Iâm not one that usually writes reviews but donât want people to have high expectations of the property from looking at the pictures online.||This was supposed to be a nice 4 day long weekend but very...
