Kinda traumatic. Went camping there and the tent caught on fire, flooded from rain storm, collapsed from the wind - then flew away, not to mention 1/3 of the beach sand coming inside, and the temperature going from freezing to hot when ever it pleased. I wanted to catch an Uber about 5 hours into the night but decided not to because 1) It was my first time there and I didn’t know the way back up 2) my friends would have never let me hear the end of it. At the absolute worst point/our breaking point, all 7 of us, who were crammed into the tent, were just laughing of how terrible everything turned out. After sleeping for around 3 hrs. we woke up to the sun rise and saw a beautiful rainbow over our tent. Unfortunately, we didn’t think to ask anyone to pick us up before leaving. So, we’re calling everyone on our contact list with 12% battery left. Eventually, we made it out alive and can now tell another tail...

Alan Davis Beach, also known as Ka’Iwi Scenic Shoreline, offers a secluded paradise on Oahu’s southern side. With its breathtaking cliff views and soft sandy shores, it feels like a hidden gem. To reach this tranquil spot, follow the Kaiwi Shoreline Trail—a short, rocky hike suitable for all skill levels. Remember to wear proper shoes and bring water shoes for the rocky beach. During high tide, you can even try cliff jumping. Park at the Makapuu Lighthouse Trail lot, then take the trail toward the marsh area and head right to find the beach. It’s a 10-minute walk well worth the stunning view!” 🌴🌊

A cool, local beach. Park by the highway and be prepared to walk about a quaryer to half mile to get to the beach. Follow the road from the parking lot, veer off to the right (south) on a rocky trail to the beach. No facilities or showers so plan accordingly.

Lots of rocks in the water so be careful. There is a diving board on the north side of the cove, again be careful jumping off of it. Pele's Chair is nearby by, take the trail on the north side of the beach to it for some cool photos. Sand is dark so be prepared to...

Really clear water, great for snorkeling. Entering from the rocks on the north side seemed the way to go. Either climb down the rocks carefully, or jump off the rocks and put your gear on in the water. It got a lot more crowded after 11 AM and there were people fishing and spear fishing. Probably best to go earlier in the morning. I used Strava to get there from the other side (instead of the Lighthouse parking lot). That seemed nicer.
