Kaiwi State Scenic Shoreline is a breathtaking spot that showcases the natural beauty of Oahu. The hike to the Makapu’u Point Lighthouse is relatively easy and offers stunning panoramic views of the ocean, cliffs, and, if you’re lucky, humpback whales during the season. The trail is well-maintained, and the steady incline is manageable for most fitness levels.

The path is paved, making it accessible for strollers and those who prefer a smoother trail. Along the way, there are several lookout points where you can pause to take in the scenery or capture some incredible photos. The views from the top are truly mesmerizing, with a clear day offering sights of neighboring islands.

Parking can be a bit limited, especially on weekends, so it’s best to arrive early. Also, bring water and sunscreen, as there isn’t much shade along the trail. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, Kaiwi State Scenic Shoreline is a must-visit destination to experience Hawaii’s...

This place is amazing! There is a very nice paved path that meanders it's way to the top with several rest stops and lookouts along the way. About halfway to the top, there is a whale lookout with binoculars that didn't seem to work for me. But that's beside the point, because at this rest stop there is a rocky path down to some outstanding tide pools and blowholes (marine geysers). The path is long and challenging without much designation for finding your way to the water. I would recommend hiking shoes for the climb down and maybe some water shoes for when you make it to the tide pools if you don't want soggy shoes. There is also an unmarked trail along the ridge if you don't like pavement hiking, it crosses a few old concrete bunkers that are worth checking out. The only bad this about this area is the amount of people trying to get in, and the lack of parking to accommodate. I highly recommend coming to check...

This was so much fun there is a party of 11 of us. I would suggest going earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon when it's not so hot because it is a hike up and if you're not used to it you could get quite tired. The views are absolutely spectacular definitely worth the hike and there's lots of drop-off places where you can go look at other things. If you are willing to take the hike down part of the mountain there's little like in lap pools that you can swim in we couldn't take our little girls down there but definitely something to try out one day when our daughters are a little older. the lighthouse view is really cool shows and clearly has some history behind it. At the top of the walk there is a plaque describing what some of the soldiers sacrificed and when it's definitely worth getting up there...
