It's a nice trail, but you won't see any great lookouts. Sneakers worked fine. It was dry. I did a loop trail and also a hike to see the sunset and Honolulu panoramic views at Tantalus trail. They are close. On the trail you will see signs. Phone reception is good in this area. Highly recommend to do both trails. Don't worry about UV, the whole trail is in the shade. Not that many mosquito's, maybe because there was no rain and it was dry. On Monday I met only 8 people (on Tantalus there were many of course), so it was not as busy as Manoa falls for example. The second half is actually fun, with a wide path, exposed roots, and plenty of embedded stones for stepping. No view at the "peak." I recommend starting left at this loop, because it will mean going down, you will have the trees, roots, and stones to help you...
