Round Top Forest Reserve offers a fantastic escape into nature just minutes from downtown Honolulu. The reserve features a variety of well-maintained hiking trails suitable for different skill levels, from easy walks to more challenging ridge hikes.

Highlights include: Lush tropical forests with diverse plant life Panoramic views of Honolulu and the coastline from various lookout points Popular trails like Manoa Falls Trail and Makiki Valley Loop Opportunities for bird watching and enjoying native Hawaiian flora

The trails can get muddy after rain, so proper footwear is recommended. Some paths are quite steep or have exposed sections, adding an element of adventure for more experienced hikers.

While it can get busy on weekends, the extensive trail network means you can usually find some solitude. The park is well-maintained and offers amenities like picnic areas.

For the best experience, arrive early to secure parking and enjoy cooler temperatures. Don't miss the stunning city views from Pu'u Ualakaa State Park lookout on Round Top Drive.

Overall, Round Top Forest Reserve is a gem for nature lovers and hikers looking to explore Oahu's lush forests and scenic vistas without venturing far...

you want to see sweeping vistas of Oahu's south shore, including Diamond Head, Waikiki, downtown Honolulu, the Airport, peek-a-boo views of Pearl Harbor, and the entire shoreline from where it curves inward on the east and then again on the west, this is it. BUT, because the parking lot for this site is not viewable from the lookout point, there have been increasing incidences of theft (smash and grab) from visitors' vehicles. Definitely worthwhile to take a look, but it's also better to be safe than sorry.

Awesome Place----- We love hiking the Tantalus Trail System. I think it's the best hiking trail in Oahu -- lots of loops and one can hike up to 25 miles in a day if you wanted too - It's Got the Tree House, Enchanted & Bamboo Forests, Tantalus Peak & Lookout, Monoa & Secret waterfalls, Cliff trails and more. It's just a step away from the city. Go take a stroll, see the forest, listen to the birds, drink in the scenery and smells ---- It's will make your day!! See you on the trail!!

Great way to see a panorama of Waikiki without a lot of climbing. It affords almost the same views as climbing Diamond Head but it's faster and easier to get to. If you are traveling with someone not up for a climb, this is a great alternative. And it's perfect for watching the sunset over Waikiki. It can get crowded but the parking lots are pretty generous. And free.
