We went to this luau on our recent trip to Oahu. It is a small luau with only about 50 participants. There are about 6 people that help manage the luau (3 women, 3 men). They provide traditional luau foods, but I especially appreciate the laulau that they provide which is different than most places. I actually ended up ordering laulau at other restaurants because I was able to taste it at this luau first. Everyone here had an amazing time and were sad to leave at the end of the luau. At the beginning you will go through an introduction to luaus and what they are, hula dancing, and imus. They will then take you on a tour of the estate and show you various fruit trees that grow there, like avocados, pineapples, and soursops. You will then be taken inside the estate wooded area for some entertainment including fire dancing and hula dancing. After this, you will be taken to another area to learn about Hawaiian games and basket weaving. Following the games, the food will be served. During the food, they also entertain through stories, music, and even giveaways for people that do well at the games portion. It was a fun night and my kids loved it. I appreciated their hospitality, the conversation with Cousin Reno after everyone else had been dropped off out of the van, and the beautiful ladies. Thank you for sharing your space, your culture, and your...
Read moreTo sum it up in one word: wow! They say time flies when you’re having fun, and when our 4 hour luau was over and we were driving back to Waikiki missing the estate this statement became sadly true.
Fun for the whole family from learning about local culture to playing primitive warrior games and learning a hula as a group. See the photo of my petite wife throwinga primitive spear into a banana stalk to witness the spirit of Hawai’i come alive. Even prizes were awarded at the end of the night!
The group size was smaller, which made the event intimate and special as opposed to being with 200+ strangers and never uttering a word to anyone.
The luau flavors were truly amazing! Everything was fresh and seasoned very well. No blandness, all flavor. My daughter and I are gluten-free so I notified them during booking and they made an our food completely separately to minimize / eliminate cross contamination. A delicious time to be alive! Mahalo!
The drinks were dangerous! Don’t let the fruitiness fool you! These drinks pack a fruity punch and sneak up on you when you least expect it.
The whole staff are very pleasant and full of jokes, making you feel welcomed and a part of their family.
We learned, we laughed, we played, we danced, we drank, and we ate! An excellent luau all around! Mahalo...
Read moreA lot of the draw to this particular Luau is the location and the beautiful view it affords of the city, the sunset, and the beautiful grounds. So, when it rained, the sunset was not visible, the city barely so, and it was challenging to walk around and appreciate the grounds. It would have been understandable if they cancelled and refunded everyone, but they chose to hold it anyway, which I did appreciate, but I think with poor weather there should be a significant discount, because the experience is significantly less amazing. Furthermore, it kind of felt like, at ~7:30 we were being rushed out of the tent and off the property. They present the luau as being part of a 'family' but being rushed out in that way did not feel like 'ohana' at all. It would have been nice, after the activities, to have 15-30 min to continue to sip drinks, ask questions, enjoy company, before having to leave. All that said, is definitely a more intimate experience than you'll get at other locations, isn't commercialized or a production in the same way. While that's nice, there also can be something impressive about high production value Luau's with larger, more impressive shows. You just have to decide what you're...
