A piece of history and now a wonderful family owned restaurant.
Breakfast at 7 and lunch at 11, closes at 1 or 230.
The food is thoughtfully prepared. Love and dedication is definitely in this food. Price point isnt suspiciously cheap nor is it expensive, the portions are generous and the quality outstanding.
I started with the French press coffee and a fresh mixed berry scone.
The coffe was delightful. Smooth and not acidic, the order was enough for 2 people having a couple of cups each. Plenty! The scone was top notch, whenever someone names berries I always seem to get little to none but this restaurant knows each bite should contain the flavour that's advertised! It wasnt doughy or dry, it had a nice consistency with different berries and bits of a sweetened cream cheese. A Wonderful way to start your day, I highly reccomend.
Next I sampled the mac nut pancakes, huge portions that are light fluffy and delicious in every bite. Its topped with banana and mac nuts and you can request a nice light syrup as well as a creamier, thick coconut like one. Top scores again. A crowd pleaser, could share with 2 people!
I also had the 2 eggs, bacon or ham and toast. I went with over easy, bacon and multi grain. Eggs were cooked and seasoned exactly as ordered and tasted great! The wasnt greasy like a diner nor was it small and crumbly. It had nice crunch while still boasting a good size of 2 strips. The toast was done exactly right, not burned but still crisp. It came with a butter and a fruit spread. This was a great example of simplicity executed with style. It serves 1, Again i reccomend.
The egg breakfast sandwich was outstanding. The bread wasnt thick and it did not overpower the bite. Buttery and delightful, the bread complimented the lightness of the eggs. A great lighter, protein packed breakfast. I reccomend this item on the menu as well.
Soup of the day- The cream of kale soup was a delight. Dont let the kale name fool you, its creamy and tastes fantastic and I'm not even a kale fanatic! Color me impressed!
They had just had a soft opening so the service is paced, dont come here if you're in a hurry as they are still working out their kinks but the ordering style is very efficient.
You walk in, order and pay then find a seat. So while there is a wait, it isnt to be seated and order, its for food prep and delivery. Very smart.
I think more restaurants could stand to not be so americanized and rush paced. Order your food, sit back and enjoy your company and then enjoy the outstanding food and relish the time are there enjoying it!

Read moreThis lovely place is worth a visit, first for the setting, secondly for the food and service. It's all good and quite a worthy value for the chill atmosphere, lush surrounds and local vibe. Breakfast and lunch choices are simple, fresh and tasty with a tempting variety of home baked goods. Stand in line to order off a chalkboard, pay up front and find a table inside or out on the veranda which has a beautiful vista. There is also a serene back patio with a couple of tables. Lines can be long, so get there early or be patient; service is organized for how hectic it can be. One word of caution: DOUBLE CHECK YOUR ORDER to make sure it is correct! I docked one star because two separate times my order was wrong. The first time, after waiting in a long line, I ordered breakfast to eat on the premises and they forgot an Acai bowl (which was easily corrected). The second time I stood in line again for takeout and ordered two apple turnovers and one blueberry scone, yet when I got home and opened the sealed box, found ONE turnover and TWO scones! Aye yai yai! I was so looking forward to enjoying the turnover (the other was for a friend) that I was VERY disappointed. So sad! * UPDATE! * The next morning, I reheated the scone and it was very good, light and slightly dry as this pastry should be, with a crunchy, caramelized finish. Although I still think it's wise to double check your order if your heart is set on something, I retract my disappointment as the swap turned out to be a happy accident. Thank you, Waioli Kitchen & Bake Shop for your consistency in creating tasty treats!...
