I really like this place because it is both entertainment and a food source. I don't usually do activities outside, but blueberry picking is both enjoyable and soothing.
Tucked away in a Windermere neighborhood, you could easily drive past the place so drive slowly. Going past the gate and down a thin driveway, you have grass parking. The last time I went was in the era of COVID, so they ask you to wash your hands first in the wash station they have. From there, grab a bucket and go.
I have been there four times, two of them by myself. I usually go at opening when there are less people and receive a blissful calm by myself in the morning sun and breeze, alone in a section of blueberry bushes. Wearing loose, breathable clothing and a decent hat, I'm pretty much only perspiring around my temples and back of my neck. It feels pretty cinematic as I rub my hat up and down my forehead, while looking around, to absorb the sweat and take in the moment.
There is a certain satisfying feeling as your hand grasp under a grouping of blueberries, delicately wrapping your fingers, and having the plucking sensation as you pull the blueberries off the stems. I feel like old man Picard plucking grapes off his vineyard.
It took me an hour and half to fill one bucket and I felt I was fairly discerning on what I picked, as well as taking moments to enjoy the atmosphere. If I remember correctly, it was about $17 a bucket. However you could opt to fill half buckets. The blueberries are sweet, even if you pick the small ones, as long as they are ripe. I have ate them by themselves, as well as made blueberry scones. I'll probably make muffins next.
This is a type of activity that can be enjoyed by yourself, on a date, with a platonic friend, or...
Read moreMy second trip was disappointing. After I laboriously picked my blueberries on one of our hottest days in Florida, I took my my product to the woman wait underneath the tent to estimate my share. I was accompanied by a friend, therefore I divided to let her have her own container for $10. and I have my own. I had picked a little more than my $10 container could hold and the woman got a smaller $3 container to place the remnants in. After deciding to pay for my friend , I had inadequate money for the $3 container. I told her I did not have $3, I had $2 only. She refused to give me for a mere $1 less after I spent so time picking in the hot sun. I had to travel across town to do this and this type of attitude and behavior was truly unacceptable. Due to her rush in closing the small container, all of the berries spilled on the table and most rolled unto the ground. She speedily pick them up and placed them in the contain to be sold to someone else who never perspired for picking them. This is not good and longevity business. I will not go back and all of my friends decided not to as I work with a large firm. Treat people right and they will...
Read moreFirst blueberry U-Pick Experience!
What U-pick blueberry experience. Very well organized, even the blueberry trees. There are 3 varieties of blueberries and they are labeled accordingly with ribbons, once you try one from one tree and like it, that's the type you like. And WOAH i never knew different types existed, which explains why there are sometimes blueberries I don't like from the supermarket and today I was able to compare that side by side. There definitely is a lot of tree and berries to go around!
Environment Very well organized! The parking spots have lines so that no one is parking crazy! They have washing stations so you can clean your hands before picking. The area around the trees are clean and easy to walk on. Super close to windermere, no need to go far.
Niceness of the staff Very nice staff! Was friendly to explain the process. Checking out was super easy as well.
Dollar Cash only! It was reasonable for fresh berries! I got a 12$ pack. It took me some time to even fill the bucket that much but it was good. They also have pint sizes, which was $4. Very...
