I've been to the National World War II Museum in New Orleans several times. I had never heard of there being a Military Museum in Houma. I wasn't expecting much. But I was in for a surprise!
There's a lot to see at this Regional Military Museum. Our group of more than 20 people was given a guided tour by a gentleman who was very knowledgeable about the items in the exhibits... and he was relaxed abd friendly in his presentation. He elaborated on any of the things we asked about, generous with the details. Many of the items exhibited have stories with direct connections to people from the Houma area.
They have a gift shop offering lots of books, videos, t-shirts and many other things. I encourage anyone to visit this museum if you have any interest in military history.

Read moreWhat a museum! This is a packed museum with lots to see. If you go with children or teens there is a scavenger hunt for them not to run through the museum so quickly. The volunteers are extremely friendly and love to talk about all the things. Ms. Linda was amazing with the teens and showed them some really neat items. We had a great visit and all six teenagers and two other adults I went with had a great time. Well worth the visit.
