Arthur Storey Park used to be my go-to spot back when I lived closer, and it remains a gem for outdoor enthusiasts. The park is well-maintained and offers a variety of amenities for all ages and interests.
One of the standout features is the diverse network of trails, including a sand trail that’s perfect for runners. The main entrance houses a playground with slides, swings, and other activities for kids, conveniently located near restrooms. Scattered throughout the park are bungalows for resting, sightseeing, or simply enjoying the serene environment. The multiple lakes and fountains, especially in the summertime, add to the park’s relaxing ambiance.
For fitness enthusiasts, there’s a dedicated kids’ fitness area with rock-climbing features and other amenities, along with an additional restroom nearby. The park is incredibly pet-friendly, with water fountains equipped with dog bowls and free plastic bags at the entrances for easy cleanup.
In the summer, the park comes alive with blooming flowers, ducks, turtles, and even fish, making it a picturesque spot for nature lovers. Barbecue and picnic areas are popular for gatherings, while the expansive layout and multi-mile trails offer plenty of space for exercise or exploration.
Recently, I noticed they’ve added a tai chi area, which is a fantastic addition for group activities. It’s great to see the park evolving and adding more features for the community.
During the winter, it’s quieter, especially in the evenings, which I enjoy as it allows me to let my well-trained dogs roam without worry. The peaceful atmosphere, combined with the park’s thoughtful amenities, makes it a wonderful place to relax or stay active.
I highly recommend Arthur Storey Park for its beauty, versatility, and the sense of community it fosters. Whether you’re walking, running, sightseeing, or picnicking, this park truly has something...
Read moreSuch a great park! it's so great, alot of other people think so too lol; that's why parking is so difficult to find, and thats really only the major setback i think this park has. The park is pretty much a giant reservoir area, so there's alot of wildlife in and around the park. I've been coming here for years, and I thoroughly enjoy feeding the ducks and the turtles at their little isolated turtle pond. All the animals here are a riot and so full of character. my favorite part is spotting the occasional NUTRIA (capybara's cousin)! During the rainy season, you can also find huge black toads along the water's edge; lol that one time was scary.
There's a long trail around the entirety of the park that's great for long runs. Terrain and scenery also vary, as the park has its upslopes, paths through trees, random pillars, a reservoir channel on the left of the park, Home Depot on the right, and an Asian neighborhood/shopping strip in the back of the park. There are plenty of playground & picnic areas, but they're all congregated closer to the left side of the park near the restrooms. Still enough adequate space for people to play soccer, there's a yoga/Zen space in center as well, and you can safely fly a kite here closer to the center of the park near the water. Overall, this park is an adventure.
I think it's an added bonus that this park is close by to Chinatown, because I can pick up a bite from my favorite local eats, then drive over to the park to enjoy my lunch.
Sunsets here are especially beautiful. This park is well worth the trip, the experience, and the frequent visit for anyone living in...
Read moreAs far at the excercise went I put in about two laps in the outter circle of the park two to three days a week, thats a total of 2.14 mile long trip been trying to lose wieght and even cut off from soda lately I have been feeling better about myself and my health.
The view is spectacular, breath taking even great for taking time away from the daily humdrum activities at home best of all the about the greatest thing you will hear about this park is the fact that there is a feeling of security with Security vehicles upfront on standby. Their closing times are established for safety reasons and the Security even enforces it strictly but that's one of the things I like if it weren't for that many of the park's visitors would be forgetting all about the return home it is so relaxing at Arthur Storey Park.
One thing that concerns me however is how alligators got into the center of the park in the first place, were they migrated into the parks "Lake" or did the Alligators all one flooded day decide to just swim in the "Lake" in the middle of the park and decide to just stay there? And if so how many are even in there??? Not enough is even talked about on that subject and I for one was concerned about all this to begin with.
In the end I still love coming to the park as long as there are secure matters about the park today and well the fact that no one has really spotted an Alligator on the trail or on the outer cirlce of...
