Astro City Scrap Metal — Attraction in Houston

I'm very disappointed this is my go to scrap metal location and they've always been good. But this is the second time this happens to me and honestly I'm in shock that these guys would do that. First time i was like no it can't be but today it happened again. I went today and I had a big load of wire your guys are all very helpful always, owner even gave me a little present. Most of the wire was put on a pallet w/a card board box the some of the rest on to a trash can. Some of the wire I had was in black trashbags all trash bags are always emptied before being weighed except today one of those bags was never emptied. When they started weighing the trash cans the forklift parked in front of scale and I wasn't able to see what was being weighed but I did see them empty the trash can on to a big cardboard box. When the trash can was emptied one of the black bags that I had was set on that bin, that black bag was checked but never emptied on to scale like they always do nor emptiedon to trashcan like they did with the other bags, they just set it up there and that bag wasn't weighed. It was mixed #2 wire. Don't know if there's cameras to your scale but check what's going on. Your guys are great but I do feel they are getting their share of wire as well maybe not screwing the company but screwing your customers. Like I said your place is great, and you have great prices but some of your workers might have something going on...

This is absolutely the BEST Metal Recycler around. The staff is over the top friendly and very helpful. Don (the owner) was onsite and was a pleasure to visit with. He offers the best prices around by far. I drove an extra hour out of the way to give Astro City Scrap Metal a try strictly based off of their reviews and I’m glad I did! They have earned all of my business from now on. There are some negative reviews about this place and I can’t fathom why. I pre-weighed all my material and after they weighed it at on their scales, there was a 5 pound difference in my favor. They even informed me that some of the copper wire was copper coated iron and sorted through it. Don gave me a really nice gift bag with some magnets and other goodies. The only negative thing I can say, more of a warning than negativity, is if you have a trailer, it is a bit tricky leaving their facility. Although, the staff will assist you stopping traffic if need be so you can back out. If you are up in the air on where to take your scrap, I would highly recommend these guys. Be sure to check their website daily as they update the scrap prices every day. You might make a few extra bucks if you time it...

We had previously sold to another scrap shop that was closer, however coming here was well worth the extra bit of driving time! Their prices for wire were well above our previous place, higher than any of found in my research. Everyone we interacted with was very kind and genuine. The difference in work ethic I saw was stark as well, they zoomed through everything efficiently and with purpose. I admit at our previous location everyone always seemed very down and curt, and didn’t seem to work with much pep in their step. But at Astro city they were happy to answer any questions and quickly and efficiently got customers served and paid. They even gave a little gift bag! It included a little planner, a pocket knife, a pen, plus other stuff! Nice quality stuff too, nothing looked cheaply made and I worked at a medical facility that prioritized cheap gifts. But I’ve never gotten such a quality and thought out customer gift bag from any type of shop or anything like that, I thought it was a very nice touch to show that they care about their customers and that they genuinely want your business.
