Serena Heights Apartments — Attraction in Houston

Hello everyone, I am writing this review as honest as possible, so people don't waste their valuable money or time. My family and I have been living in this apartment for nearly a year. The first night we moved in, I went into the kitchen and founded roaches inside of it. Very very disgusting by the way. The bathroom was a highly terrible also, the maintenance people painted over the toilet and the bath tub. You can see the paint peeling off. In the living room, you can see the horrible patches they tried to patch up with spackle.( aka drywall) Even the door handles was old and rusty, the washer and dryer handle was missing. The only things that was brand new in the apartment was the shades for the patio door and the window. The carpet was also new too. As for the window in the living room it's in horrible shape. The security here is NOT good. The gates that supposed to be closed and only for the people renting here, is always open. Anyone can literally get in. The gates where the cars come and in exit out are always broken. One car can enter and five other cars come in after without closing. That's very unsafe. The parking lot have holes in it, messing up the people tires that rent here. Some areas around here has no grass. The trash is so disgusting. It's always over flowing and on the ground. People let their dogs run lose, dog poop everywhere. The ladies in the office doesn't know how to communicate with the renters. When it storms here or rain just a little the lights will go out. Sometimes it floods too. Be extra careful if you decide to move in here. In my opinion it's not worth the money...

I went to these apartments because I wanted to live in the area. I paid $50 for the application fee and gave the office lady Julia a $300 money order that wasn’t supposed to get filled out unless I got approved for the apartment. I was denied and told by Julia I can come pick up my money order. When I got there a couple hours later Julia and her supervisor had already filled out my money order and deposited it into a tenant account and when I asked about her wrong doing Julia called security and had me kicked off the property. I never gave anyone consent to fill out my blank money order and was told that my money would be mailed to me in a check form. Over a week and a half passed and Julia he boss Stephanie and several ppl continue to hang up the phone saying someone else will call and I still haven’t got a call. I have only got a text from Stephanie saying they are only mailing me half my deposit and that they had a office meeting and determined that I forfeit half my deposit because I have a criminal back ground and when I called to get an explanation to this mysterious reason they continued to hand u in my face. Watch out for these apartment leasing off and corporate off they will steal your money and give you any made up reason to...

01/2021:I live here now. I'm one month in and although the rates are decent but there is a pest (roach) problem that seems to not be taken seriously by the office. Noise levels are okay. Not too loud. Crime isn't really a problem around here so far.

The laundry rooms have 2 washers and 2 dryers in them and no seating out outlets so there's that.

The parking here is pretty bad and I don't have a car yet. Hopefully something is done when I get one in the next month or 2. All in all, the complex is okay.

If things change before my first 6 months I'll update my review.

06/2021: Things are much worse. Parking is horrible. One morning before work, I got a orange parking violation sticker put on my driver side window for parking where many other residents park. There have been times where I have felt targeted, but no one in the front office has apologized or made me feel more comfortable. My roach problem has gotten much better due to my own work. We pay for maintenance, but there's trash all over the complex at all times and things rarely get fixed. If you can go somewhere...
