I could swear I already promised myself I would never stay at another Hyatt location based on my last stay. This time sealed the deal for me. The brand is just way off the mark for serious business travelers.
If you ARE a serious business traveler, there are so many more, and MUCH better options available for you in the area. This place falls short in just about way.
Staff - When you think of all the adjectives you'd like to use when talking about a hotel staff (i.e. helpful, enthusiastic, welcoming), these people fall short and flat! They weren't NOT nice, but they're the epitome of "Blah"!
I checked in on Monday... Tuesday I had no room turn service. Wednesday, they came in only to replace towels. Thursday, again no service, and now I have a large pile of trash from 2 dinners because there's no place to put the trash, and a pile of towels at my feet. I check out tomorrow, and I can not wait!!
Dinner was delivered to me in the lobby, and I went to grab some Gatorade from their little display. All of them were warm, as in room temperature.
As I was waiting for my food, I sat in the lobby and did some work on my laptop. There were two other people in the lobby, and it was slow. The table next to me had food crumbs and someone's napkin inside the condiments tray. Staff just stood there on their phone. I saw no cleaning staff the entire time I was there, and the desk people didn't seem to care about basic cleanliness.
Room - The rooms are laid out in the most asinine manner. They found a way to make an already small room feel even smaller and confined. If you are traveling as a couple, only one of you will be able to watch TV unless you're both on the same side of the room.
The desk chair has no wheels, but the ottoman does. Lol So adjusting your desk chair to get close to your work next to impossible.
You have to step way into the shower to turn on the water. So in the cold morning, you step in, turn the shower on, and you get sprayed by the cold water. WTH?
Speaking of cold, I turned the heater on (yes, I put it on heat), but cold air came out. So I turned it to 85. 1/2 hour later, still cold air coming out.
There are no outlets or charging stations in practical locations, not even on the desk. The one overt receptable, near the TV, did not work. Had to charge my phone next to the sink and charge my laptop behind the SOFA.
The fridge is next to a counter top that sticks way out for no reason. It has no practical use and is about 48' high. I racked my back on it twice stepping away from the fridge. Someday someone will smack their head on it.
As you enter the room, there are two light switches. One works... I have no clue what the other does... but the lighting is generally horrible in the room.
To get a little more nitpicky, the room had a decent view, especially from the high floor. But you can only enjoy it if you're sitting on the bed.
The pillows are next level bad! I stacked 4 of them, and I still lay flat! They are like pancakes.
Speaking of pancakes, the complimentary breakfast is laughable. Can't even give an A for effort.
If you like TV, IT is decent, but the programming and remote are horrible. No light on the remote, so if it's dark you can see any of the buttons. The programming is minimal... If you want to know what's on, you have to put it on channel 1 and let all of the 47 channels cycle. You have no control!
So, all in all, I have stayed at worse places... but not many, and I stay at a LOT of hotels!
So long Hyatt!...
Read moreBooked this hotel despite the low rating reviews as it was a Hyatt Place and we wanted something for our family (including 3 children) outside of the center at an affordable rate. The safety of our belongings in our car was also a concern as we were on a long cross country road trip and had a top and back storage unit on our car.
We have stayed at various other Hyatt Place hotels in the country and had great experiences at the same approximate nightly rate.
This hotel unfortunately does not hold up to the same standards.
I could only describe it as tattered and sticky but we still happily stayed for 3 nights.
No laundry facilities on site but sure you could send it out with their service.
The pool water at the time was clean and refreshing for the kids to play. It must have been recently shocked. Some pool furniture was broken, outdoor showers and fountain not working.
Breakfast buffet was fulfilling and for having it included in the rate was a super deal. Was better with slightly more assortment than the standard continental ones at the other hotel brands we had been staying at. Had thawed out berries to go with yogurt. The kitchen staff lady was the nicest and most courteous and refilled the items as needed. We hit the buffet early in the morning when it opened so it was not yet pillaged and left dirty.
There are printed paper signs taped all over the walls of the lobby and mostly kitchen area alerting guests 'not to bring pets to the buffet', 'don't drag the chairs to make noise in the buffet area', 'don't bring buffet food upstairs or out of the hotel' etc. Made the appearance cheap and tacky. Can put some felt pads on the chairs to put at the bottom of the legs as a cheap fix to guests dragging them. Get some professionally printed signage but don't overdo with so much caution perhaps.
The Starbucks inside was not operational at the time of our stay and looked like it had been out for an extended time. Can buy $4 granola bars from the side case though.
All front desk staff I came in contact with was unfriendly and standoffish. Only scowling faces. The hot water for tea needed refilling during the day and I was told it should be full. I tried it twice and had to ask this particular staff member again and she made me feel like I was bothering her... while she was checking her phone.
We appreciated that they did get us checked in earlier at 1pm when we first arrived and only had to wait 20 mins for the room to be ready.
There are about 3 hotel wheeled caddys stored toward the back hallway in the center. They are all wonky, loose, mismatched and do not drive well.
The beds and linens were clean and good. The carpet seemed soaked in years of filth. The room or air ducts may need cleaning from mould or allergens. I have no allergies but staying in the room made me constantly sneeze and had sinuses acting up.
Parking area was well lit and our vehicle felt safe.
Lobby area is passable with power outlets at numerous tables so one could do work and plug in devices there if needed. Good wifi in...
Read moreWe made a reservation on Thursday December 12th, 2024. At 1am, we called to ask if we could check in early and were told it would be a $50 fee, when at past Hyatt stays, we were told it was complementary. We then were trying to ask the person at the front desk more questions about that but we could not understand the person on the other line so we politely asked if there was anyone else who could answer the questions because we would like to avoid any frustration or confusion on either side of the call, and when we said that the person scoffed and hung up on us.
We thought nothing of it, maybe they were tired and cranky. That’s still no way to treat a guest or potential guest; however, we were still not mad or feeling a need to book elsewhere. Our reservation said it was at 4:00 am, no big deal.
When we arrived at 4:00 am for our reservation, we were told that we could not check in until 10am at the earliest because they were not finished with their night audit. This was as he was checking someone else in at that very moment. We were told that we could not check in any sooner no matter what.
Giving up, we sat down with our 15 month old baby in the lobby to try to figure out our next move because we were tired and didn’t want to drive an hour home. By this point we were, I believe understandably, upset and talking amongst ourselves about how unprofessional it was, especially when we have a small child. We asked for his name so we could know who was treating us with not the best hospitality, and he called the cops on us.
We decided it was not worth it and we will just leave and drive the hour home at 4 in the morning. He follows us out of the building, telling the cops false accusations that we were hitting him and threatening him. We get to our car and my husband drops our keys. When I turn around the front desk guy is picking up a rock as my husband, baby and I are walking to our car to leave and I try to warn my husband, in fear for our lives at this point. My husband realizes he dropped the keys and as he goes to pick them up, the guy kicks them away from him. When my husband picks up the kicked keys, he attempts to get to our vehicle and the clerk try’s to block my husband from getting to us.
I buckled my daughter in as my husband got in the car, finally able to get around the guy. When we started the vehicle, he blocked us in holding the hood of our car while reading off our license plates to the cops. I was terrified for mine and my family’s safety so my husband calmly but firmly asked him to move multiple times before honking and revving the engine before slowly driving off.
I was terrified for my daughter’s life. I didn’t know his intentions. I didn’t know if he had a gun, or if he intended for us to survive that day.
While we were on the road I cancelled our reservation for later that day, but later saw a $200 charge for something and we did nothing but walk in and fear...
