I came to check out this parking lot specifically for launching a kayak at the beginning of the Buffalo Bayou Texas paddling Trail. The parking lot does not allow for parking with a kayak trailer. The walls here at this spot are kind of steep, but it looks manageable with a moderate or heavy sized kayak on a cart. On the north wall, the parking lot side, there are little metal pieces inside the blocks, which could be used as a kayak tied down prior to launching, this spot has a water flow, level gauge to be accessed online on the other side of the Bayou. This is the west trail head for Terry Hershey park. and the East side of the Bush Park though the section is more a Reservoir. The parking lot gives you access to both. Also the damn is here, When releasing water there is a mist from the water churning, it smells like pungent and get all over things. just a warning after heavy rains.
