Car Ex Auto Sales — Local services in Houston

Ok, I wanted to wait some time before posting this review and also I'm going to be as much specific as possible so you know my experience with these guys. Here it goes:

First of all, I’ve bought 3 cars already from them. Last October 2016, I bought my FIRST CAR IN AMERICA with them and they were great. At that time, this guy named Edwin took care of me and he was really patient, answered all my questions (and trust me, first time buying a car in the US? I HAD QUESTIONS!) And we tested at least 5 cars that time and guess what? I got my Honda Accord 2009 in GREAT CONDITIONS! Actually, the car had a little issue with the oil pressure sensor, I took it to the dealership the next day and they changed it and didn’t charge me a dime.

A few months later, In December 2016 we bought a car for my brother, a Chevy Sonic 2012, my brother LOVES THAT CAR! Edwin wasn’t there anymore but Rami took care of everything. When we bought that car, had issues with the stereo and the shocks… Took it the next day and… Long story short… They replaced what was needed to be replaced and like It took a couple of days to get it fixed because their shop was full… They lent us a car.

In February 2017, I bought my THIRD CAR FROM THEM. I saw their website, chose a few options, bought a Dodge Journey 2013 at that time and didn’t even tested it, just went there, saw the SUV, Rami once again worked with me with the price and I bought it. When I was gonna drive for the very first time after buying it, had a small issue with the rear view mirrors control panel. Once again, they took care of it. The next day I started to feel something wrong with the front right side wheel but I took it there days later because I way busy at work (like two or three weeks later). We talked things through and they took care of half the bill and that’s more than ok considering the fact that I didn’t take it to the dealership at time. All of the cars I’ve bought from them have been a blessing for me and my family.

I took some time and a lot of details to write this review because I want to make something clear here, and this is a Life Principle: what you sow is what you reap! If you are looking for a place where everything is flawless and you never wanna have an issue with anybody… please, if you find it, let me know where it is located! I rather working with a company that solves problems, than one that tries to make it seem like there is not one at all. These guys are GREAT!!! They have worked with me every single step of the way. Rami is a real problem solver and he always has the best attitude and him and Octavio (the current sales person) they know how to take care of customers. I REALLY RECOMMEND THEM AND REMEMBER… if you see a one star review from somebody who didn’t get anything… I’M GIVING THEM A 5 STAR REVIEW AND HAVE BOUGHT 3 CARS FROM THEM ALREADY!!! I came here to buy a car after seeing it online. I called about two days before I came to make sure that the vehicle was still available, and it was. I inspected it on my own before test driving it and the pictures online were an accurate representation (cosmetically) of the vehicle. The carfax provided me with the more pertinent information that I needed so that I would be sure that I wasn't buying a fruit.

After test driving, I decided that I wanted to buy it. The buying process here was smooth, with no hassle and very minimal anxiety. However, I was not able to drive the vehicle off the lot. That took away from my car buying experience, and several days later, I still do not have the car!

The car was not inspected when I bought it because I saw that I was charged for the state inspection. I was told that there were some components that couldn't be inspected because they were in sleep mode, and that the vehicle had to be driven for 60 miles before these components could be checked. I consulted the carfax (before buying) and amongst other things, saw that this dealership had acquired the vehicle from an auction since November, 2022, and it is now April, 2023. So all that time, nothing has been done to the vehicle to make it ready to be driven off the lot when the customer buys.

A few days after buying, I received a call saying that brakes and rotors had to be replaced as well as an oil change needed to be done and then the car would be delivered that day. I waited until the end of the business day, and received nothing. I called the next day, and was told the same thing. It doesn't take days to do an oil change and fix brakes, those are same day repairs, so that suggests to me that there is something more in the mortar than the pestle. Also, the day I bought the vehicle, I was told that the front tires would be replaced and that the missing clip for the visor on the driver's side would also be replaced.

I am very disappointed, and at this point I have no idea when I would get my car. So, this review is to make you as a consumer well informed, the car buying process when it comes to paperwork or cash transaction is comfortable but be prepared, because you may not get the opportunity to feel that exuberance of driving your car off the lot that same day, and you have no idea when you'll get it. I really wish I had listened to other reviews and also listened to my gut. Unfortunately I fell victim to this disingenuous company and I hope my terrible experience will keep others from making the same mistake.

I recently purchased a preowned vehicle from this company and did not get a pre-purchase inspection. I trusted that Tim was being honest about the condition of the car. I got it shipped to me without even looking at it. The car fax was clean and had decent service records.

I purchased the car and didn’t get it until a week later when told it would be there the next day or two at the latest. When I got the car I drove it for 30 miles and then the check engine light came on. I took it to a reputable mechanic in my area and 3k in repairs later I had my car out of the shop. Still have issues and now I’m stuck with a horrible car. Paid for repairs which I was told were already completed, yet was completely lied to. Please stay away from this company. I should’ve known not to trust a used car dealer but I learned my lesson the hard way. Now I owe 20k on a car that may be worth 10k. Does this company care? No! I’ve attempted to contact Tim multiple times to speak with him and never received a call back.

I paid a premier price for a vehicle that I was told was in great mechanical condition. I could’ve bought the same car for much less elsewhere and it would’ve been in much better condition. I’m trying to sell it now as it’s turned into a money pit and I’m sure it will still require thousands of...
