SOMETHING BLUE by Liliana Puertas — Attraction in Hudson

I knew I wanted something completely different than the customary white wedding dress for my wedding day. After hours of searching and not finding “the” outfit, I came to the decision that I was going to have a custom outfit made. I found “Something Blue” and was blown away with the bespoke work that Liliana does and had to reach out to her. During our first conversation, not only did Liliana and I connect right away, she was sketching during our call what I was envisioning! I went in for my first detailed consultation and during that time together, Liliana had rendered out the exact vision of what I had in my mind for my outfit making me feel as if I hit the jackpot knowing I had to move forward with her expertise and have her create my outfit.

Once I looked in the mirror during the first fitting, I couldn’t help but smile from ear to ear. What Liliana had created was a pure piece of art and what was even more special was knowing it was created especially for me. When it came time to the final fitting and seeing the outfit, I was over the moon and felt like a queen with the final result. Not only was Liliana able to make my vision come to fruition that I had for my wedding outfit, I was able to get a custom-made couture outfit that I will be able to wear time and time again that was made with loads of TLC. Liliana is an expert at her craft and takes so much pride into what she does for her clientele. What she creates is just exquisite and has such finite precision in her execution. Whether it be a wedding or any other event that you need an outfit for, I cannot recommend Liliana enough to help see your vision come to fruition! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Liliana, for creating such a masterpiece for my wedding day!

My experience with Liliana Puertas at Something Blue was very poor. All I needed was a simple hemming at the bottom. When I put it on for her to measure around the bottom, she only eyeballed it, and put in four or five pins to hold it in place. (I paid her ahead of time - $130 dollars). When I came back to try it on, I noticed that the hem was uneven around the bottom, so she “fixed” it then and there. When I tried it on the third time, the under layer was showing and so she had to cut even more. When I tried it on the fourth time, she made me feel ashamed of my body by saying it was my belly and hips that made the hem uneven around the bottom. I shouldn’t be made to feel ashamed in a beautiful dress, that was very degrading.

I ended up just taking the dress, because she refused to fix her mistakes, and basically told me I would have to live with it the way it was, because of my belly.

I had to bring the dress to another tailor, now with two weeks to go before the wedding…so stressful … and I am having the hemming redone. Now, instead of wearing high heels, I have had to buy flat shoes…so that the length of the dress goes all the way to the floor.

It’s been very stressful working with Liliana. She will shame you for whatever body type you are…it’s NOT you, it’s her inability to do her job correctly.

Be warned....

I had my first bridal fitting today at Something Blue by Liliana Puertas. She was an absolute doll. I’m currently almost 5 months pregnant and wasn’t able to get any alterations done because my dress just came in two weeks ago. I called maybe 7 places before she was recommended to me and no one else was willing to help me knowing a month before my wedding I would need adjustments due to my daughter being born and it being too close to my wedding date. Instead of not helping me she said “OMG congratulations what a beautiful blessing, of course I’ll help you.” I actually wanted to cry lol she accommodated me into her busy schedule to get me in now before my belly got bigger which I was so grateful to be able to get a head start on the hem and bussel at the least. Needless to say her place was immaculate, she was so attentive to me, making sure I was comfortable, gave me water and reassured me all would be well. She’s so reasonably priced and her work speaks for itself, she truly is talented. I’m just so happy I found her and would highly recommend her. She really is a lifesaver. I’m thankful she was willing to help me given the circumstances.
