Huntsville has plenty of money and when they want to spend it. They spent a great amount on this park. It's got a water feature for kids plenty of unused playground equipment, brand new of course. This park used to be a simple local park where you could park in shaded areas under the trees an talk or just enjoy the ducks. Not anymore! True to Huntsville's over the top spending and over doing. No one parks under trees to enjoy nature here. Absolutely not! There are paved parking areas in the sun only. If you are there for a natural area you are now in the Wrong place. You need to be there for the concrete water feature and be good with parking in the sun. No one much uses the sophisticated new equipment. You will need to leave town for anything natural. City planners are all about shiny playground equipment and concrete. Money is of course no object. You can not park under the trees that has been fenced off. You can not park near the natural spring. You can not be there for no reason. If you come there to sit in your car and eat lunch in a natural spot be advised all parking is now in full sun. Thank You City of Huntsville a old fashioned peaceful park pretty much ruined. Somebody made money. There must be a better way to toss Cash to the cadre. Have them pave a vacant lot and put playground equipment on it away from naturally beautiful areas...

The Brahan Springs Disc Golf, built in 1972, is the second course made. The 18 3 par holes whind around through pine trees as tall as a 2 - 3 story building. which makes it technical and difficult for beginners, but once after a little practice anyone can have a lot of fun. There are also local leagues to join that play the course weather permitting on a weekly basis . And also tournaments of multiple levels of experience throughout a year for example, March 7th 2020 the disc company called MVP is having a winner challenge tournament. Which I have already signed up for and looking forward to I managed to walk six miles today playing three rounds of 18 holes just practicing as I am not a pro and there will be people there better than me but I still have fun weather I get a competitive Edge built up through the process of playing better players or not. Luckily one advantage of having such tall and clothes together pine trees is the pine needles cover the ground which allows it to dry quickly in times of rain where you could not go and play at another course and the people that play on the course make it one of the best well kept and maintained courses...

Fishing can be ok. Depending on what kind you wanna catch, you can reel in green sunfish, bluegill (bream) long ear sunfish, warmouth, largemouth bass, spotted bass, and catfish. I caught my first bass here when I was three years young fishing with a float & minnow! When I grew up, my family and I lived right down the street- like four blocks away😀 I actually went fooling around at this location today before dark(4-21-18) and caught three bass. Two 14 inch fish, and a 16 inch which surprised me! They stock this lagoon with channel catfish every year around March-June for youth catfish rodeos. I believe it's for children 12 and younger... But I'm not 100%. A good way to check is look up or call Buster's Bait & Tackle Shop and they can tell you... cause most of the years they have hosted it and raffled out prizes. Its not a real big place but give it...

One of my favorite parks to visit in Huntsville. Haven't caught any fish but it's a cool place to fish anyway.

Definitely a lovely course! Several people told me it’s the “third oldest disc golf course”, but they’ve taken good care of it. Quality tee pads, great signage, and excellent course design. I like how the signs show possible shot placement. That’s a nice feature for beginners to intermediate players. It’s mostly wooded but you still have opportunities to really air it out. The woods are interesting in that you’re mainly avoiding tree trunks. The grabby branches are up a lot higher than you’re typically throwing. Though a couple shorter deciduous trees make a couple holes more interesting. Loved it!
