University Pickers — Local services in Huntsville

I have been patronizing University Pickers for almost 4 years come April 2018. During that time, I have NEVER had a bad experience (4 years, that's a lot of nevers). The Staff is Very friendly, ready to assist you at a moment's notice. The individual booths are well spaced & well played out. The atmosphere is warm & the entire store is well lit; there are no dark spots or dark corners throughout the store. The bathrooms are very spacious & Clean (yes, bathrooms are actually provided for their customers, imagine that). Products are Home Decor, many of them built by Craftsman & Artists; Artwork consisting of Original Oil Paintings, Water Colors & High Quality Reproductions; Clothing, ranging from tee shirts to dresses & jackets & related accessories; several Vendors sell Home Made Soap & assorted Bath Products; a variety of Vintage items & Collectables with some Antiques including Furniture. Speaking of Antiques, there is an entire section dedicated to paints & stains used in the restoration of Furniture & Picture & Painting Frames, with an assortment of specialized paint brushes to assist in the restoration process. They have since added (modernized) a break area with chairs, tables, food, beverages & FREE Coffee! I believe University Pickers has something for everybody; that is why it is COMMON to see families shopping here. My only complaint is that University Pickers is located in a Strip Mall & shares the already limited parking space with other very busy stores, who guard their parking spots attentively, threatening would-be University Pickers' Shoppers with Tow Away signs should they park in the wrong spot; wish there was a way to resolve the Parking situation. This place isnt for you if you actually enjoy the hunt for vintage and antique. This store has a smattering of things ranging from Ai art to overpriced antiques, but it seems to be mostly whitewashed shabby chic decor. It feels like they tried to have one of every item a person would expect to find in a store like this, but they didnt bother to find the best example of each thing. For example, I collect sewing baskets, and of the two I stumbled upon there, one was stained, wicker breaking, lid only attached fully on one side, and dirty inside for over $22. That is absurd. I also collect carousel horses and, of course, found just one there. I have found far higher value ones for less, in true antique and consignment stores. I included a picture of a set of salt and pepper shakers I very recently found for $1, that they are selling for over $20. Im not saying these things are only worth so little, im just saying this is a store for people who THINK they're antique hunting and thrifting. This store is for the people that have farmhouse style plaid and Ai cow imagery in their house. This store is for the people with their whole kitchen filled with Pioneer Woman stuff. I love the selection and have bought multiple things, including a really lovely set of furniture from here (tables, chairs, etc). That being said, I used one of their preferred movers. He showed up to move the items on the agreed upon day on the ticket and received every piece of furniture except one. When he showed up without it, I called the store and the person on the phone just told me they had lost it and couldn't find it. They had a rude tone and issued no apology or possible solution. I ended up having to come down there and they were able to locate the table.

On another occasion, I came in to pay off my layaway balance on a larger set and the person working the register couldn't find it logged under my name, and had to match my item to my receipt/remaining balance left - despite the fact that when I put the initial deposit down I was promised it would be searchable by my name in the future when I come in to pay off the rest or when I send a mover in.

Nice store if you like cute, custom painted furniture, antique furniture, decorations, etc ... but I will probably be skeptical of purchases...
