A strange experience but a beautiful park. We reserved a campsite online, same day. Arrived to find it moderately busy for opening weekend. Lovely scenery, clean grounds, maintained equipment. But no firewood on site, which is somewhat unusual, and no staff that knew where it was sold. Most MN parks are very particular about what wood can be burned due to invasive species. Then we noticed a group of teenagers showed up to party. They commandeered the campsite on the point and had a rager. Then a seemingly homeless man on a bicycle tethered with his every worldly possession rolled in to bathroom/park shelter around dusk and set up his free campsite on a picnic table and went to sleep. Then after 10pm, which is quiet time, the teens in the park decided it was a good time to launch fireworks off into the park. At no point did any law enforcement come through, which I have seen at almost every park I've camped at. We ended up leaving a bit later after we heard people walking around outside our tent. Beautiful place but would...
Read moreWe planned a family camping trip with a 3 y/o. The pavilion was rented by a private party but no additional details were given On the website. It turned out that it was a “first annual heavy metal music festival”.
The music was way too loud and even the people across the river were complaining to the police. There were around 30-40 people total who came and the music was horrendous. This coming from a person who just went to a real music festival last weekend.
Had we been aware, we would never have camped there that weekend. The city/campground admin staff would not give us a refund or offer a different weekend.
Both the police and campground admin staff said they would “try” to better communicate these situation in the future. However I will not have to worry about it again since I will not camp...
Read moreThis camp ground off of Hwy 7 in Hutchinson is really beautiful if you need to stop on your way to the cities or over here for some reason. The only draw back at this time of the year is that the beautiful green park behind our camper cannot be enjoyed due to the tremendous amount of dog size goose droppings ALL OVER! Even everywhere you possibly can walk around your camp site. Not cool! They have full hookups with (30 and 50 amp) electric, sewer and water. It is odd that there is no check in though. You make reservations and pay by phone then just drive to your site and park. Check in is 2:00, check out is noon. Here are...
