This is about the SERVICE DEPARTMENT only. I didn’t deal with the dealership about buying a car, so I can’t rate that part. I took my car in for a recall, and after jay Malone had had my car for 3.5 hours, they called me to say that they ordered the wrong part. He said that they will order a the correct one, and it’ll be here in a couple of days, and then I can come back. I live an hour away from jay Malone. They had 2 weeks to make sure that they had the correct part, from when I called to make my appointment, until my actual appointment. I said fine, whatever. I told my mom, since I was hanging out with her that day, and she called back to express her disappointment and talk with the manager. The manager just kept saying she was sorry for the mix up, and that this particular part is on back order. But wait a minute, the guy that called me to let me know they had the wrong part said that the correct one would be in, in a couple of days. So is it back ordered or not? Who’s lying? Anyway, the manager said that they have the part I needed on reserve for somebody else, but that customer hasn’t made an appointment yet, so they’ll put that one in my car. It took another 2 hours for them to put it in. I think that they probably gave my part to another customer, since they didn’t have a problem taking the part from another customer and give it to me. Then when I went to pick up my car, one of my air vents wasn’t all the way attached, so I went inside to get somebody. A guy came out to my car with me, I showed him the problem, and he snapped it back into place. Then he said to me, in a very snotty tone, “it just needed to be snapped into place. It’s secure now.” Uh, I shouldn’t have to snap it back into place, that’s not my job! That’s their job to make sure everything is done properly. I don’t feel confident that they put in the new airbag correctly, if they can’t even put back on an air vent properly. I really hope I never have to find out. I will never be bringing my car back to jay Malone, and I will tell everybody to stay away. They’re liars, and have no idea what...
Read moreUPDATE I took my Gladiator to a competent dealer and they diagnosed low compression in at least one cylinder. They are replacing the engine. While the competent dealer wasn't extremely familiar with the EcoDiesel in particular, they understood diagnostics.
Original Review
Brought my 2021 EcoDiesel Gladiator in for overheating and coolant loss under load. The dealer ran a pressure test, found no active leaks, but pointed to dried coolant residue as evidence of a hose issue — despite there being no signs of fresh leakage.
They also claimed to have performed a combustion gas test and said it passed. But when I shared that my own test turned green — a common diesel result indicating combustion gases in the coolant — I was told the fluid must turn yellow to be considered a failure. That’s simply not how diesel diagnostics work. After hearing that explanation, I had no confidence they understood the test they supposedly ran.
I tried to have a rational, technical discussion, but the service advisor insisted on the validity of their assessment, citing the diesel tech’s 30 years of experience. Even when I asked for clarification, the tech backed it up without offering any real insight.
At best, this reflects a lack of current diesel diagnostic knowledge. At worst, it felt like an attempt to avoid warranty work by blaming dried coolant.
Either way, I left with no resolution and a strong impression that this dealership isn’t the place for anything beyond basic service. For complex issues — especially under warranty — I’d...
Read moreWe received great service from Ben and the whole staff at Jay Malone! They were able to locate the exact truck I was looking for and had it at the dealerdship within 2 days. Very happy with evey aspect of the shopping and the sales process! Once again, great job Jay Malone Motors!
Second truck purchase from Jay Malone motors. Trevor our salesman was very helpful. Got exactly the truck we wanted and a price that worked well for us. In addition to great people working there, the convenience and respect for the customers time is excellent! In addition. We have always had great service from Nellie and the service department.
First time at Jay Malone Motors to look or to buy. I stopped in and TJ helped me. I told them time is important to me. I don't like waste a lot of their time or mine when buying a vehicle. I bought a new Ford truck from them. I was honest about what I would pay and they were honest about what they would sell it for. No Games. Within 2 hours I look, test drove, and bought the tuck and was out the door. It was towards the end of their day, but they all stayed late, helped each other to make the purchase that night. I did come back the next day for some new Ford customer courtesy things to show me the Ford Pass and vehicle features.
This is the 9th new vehicle I have purchased and was one of the easiest and painless I have had. From the TJ and the salesmen to the manager and finance guy....
