King Motel — Hotel in Hutchinson

Well, this wasn't my own experience, it's a friend of mine. And, I never really realized where Kings Motel was until I helped my friend who doesn't drive. See, about two weeks ago now, we had a fire in our apartment complex and none of us were able to stay the night, we got lucky. Our apartment was untouched and they turned the electricity on in just our apartment and everyone else had to find somewhere to stay. Well, my friend and his roommates have been staying at King's Motel, located right across from an Super America Gas Station and Burger King, here in Hutchinson. Talk about convenience, they have food and gas within walking distance and because of the fire, Kings Motel gave them a discount. Well, here they didn't know they could come back to their apartment, so I helped my friend and drove him to the Hotel to get his stuff. I mean, why pay for a hotel and rent, you know. We were in town getting my grandson situated and ready for college. We stopped at the recommend motel, but they were full. The fellow behind the counter called and sent us to the King Motel. As we pulled up, I told the people I was with that it had better not be more than $39. It was late and we were very tired. The lady in charge was less than friendly. The rooms were about $60. The first thing we were hit with as we entered the room was the smell of mildew. The towels looked like they had been used for years...multiple colors/patterns. The room décor was straight out of the 60's, and I don't mean the new 60's look. Each bed had a different pattern of sheets, and I won't describe the condition of the pillows. I stayed here because of the approaching blizzard, knowing if I went home I would not be able to get back to work. The price was more than reasonable and when I checked in and clarified it was only me, they reduced the price even more. This is not a luxury motel, but perfect for my needs (just a clean comfortable place to sleep). The furnishings are not fancy, but they are clean and comfortable.
