Both my parents are buried at this Cemetery. I buried my little brother next to my parents about eleven months ago. I purchased his headstone from the Oakwood cemetery and paid in full a couple of weeks after he was buried (nearly a year ago). After numerous of lies and running me around about why his headstone was not down yet, yesterday, on June 29, 2020 a day before his death anniversary, I stopped by their office again. I was informed that the company was under new management and I was finally told the paper work for his headstone was misplaced/lost and that they needed me to sign another release form to order his headstone. This information the Oakwood staff finally decided to share with me, a day before his death anniversary was emotionally hard to hear. Something like this should never happen to families that are already heartbroken and still grieving. This was very unprofessional, rude and unnecessary. After telling them, I would not sign another release form, I would like for my money to be returned so that I can purchase his headstone somewhere else, they took a nonchalant attitude about the situation. The staff member Danette and the Manger never uttered the words, I'm so sorry about this; I know this is a very difficult time for you. They claimed they didn't have it for 3-4 months. I had to get the company who I purchased from to reach out and make them search the grounds once Oakwood did it was finally found May 2022. I was told it would be installed before winter of 2022. We are in April of 2023 still not installed after I paid 2100 for install. When I would call last year I was told only one person is doing installs for the entire cemetery. Now I have been calling no one is on staff to do install. Then Karen who is in charge of headstones had the nerve to explain to me how it works to hiring for a job works as if I'm uneducated.Very unprofessional. My grandmother passed in June 2022 her headstone is not installed either. This is extremely unacceptable. We cannot grieve in peace until these headstones are installed. My grandparents are buried here and I havenāt been back since I moved out of town 10 years ago. I came in this past Sunday and some men who came before me rang the bell for assistance. A lady came out the office on the right and was extremely rude when they were asking the price of a picture for a gravestone. Another lady came out the back and the rude lady left and slammed her door. The men commented how rude she was and the lady with the longer hair who came from the back apologized on her behalf. Itās a busy place, she was trying to help the two men and the phone was ringing and I still hadnāt been helped. Finally I grabbed a map and found the area where my grandparents are, but the map is a poor quality copy so I couldnāt read the street names. I finally had to politely interrupt after 10 minutes and just point to the map and ask the name of this street so I can be on my way. The lady was so nice and grabbed a highlighter and marked my path.
The cemetery is beautiful and in the spring you can see baby ducklings. Itās a quiet place to go...
