I went to this place on Sunday for a birthday party. I arrived 30 minutes earlier than when the private party started I decided to go to the bar to grab a drink while waiting for them to clear the place for the party that was scheduled to start at 7. The lady at the bar had some serious attitude problems! First I asked for a drink and she yelled: THE BAR IS CLOSED and start doing something else. Then the man in the corner, who may have been the owner of her MAN, said we have to clean the place for a party. I said, I'm with the party. He said to the ATTITUDE LADY, serve her! So i proceeded to ask what wines they have and she pointed to that cheap bottled which I downright hate. I said, what the hell just give me a shot of VSOP. She brought me a glass with what looked like a corner and no where near a shot and then had the nerve to say $18! Baby, I wish I would pay that and its not even HALF of a SHOT! so I walked away. She later passed by and and I went to her ear and said, "you have a bad attitude". I later returned to the bar and ask the young guy to please serve me and I decided to get a chardonnay. YUCK! Supporting black businesses has always been challenging. They act like we owe them something, but they owe us for even showing up trying to patronage the place. FIRST, get workers who are glad to serve you, get a better selection of wine, Sauvigon Blancs, Kim Crawfords, or JOSH and stop selling that cheap and nasty wine and then selling one bottle for the price of a 4pk! I traveled from Naperville to this place and I WON'T...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI hope to see more black spaces thrive. I discovered this place in January via a friend party here . The owner is a kind person and created opportunities for people to enjoy events Mr. Benson is holding the space up well! . The staff is friendly fun and welcoming especially all of the ladies . I did experience some mean attitudes and unacceptable customer service a couple times from the tall male dark skinned bar tender he should definitely align himself with how to talk to people and being kind at work. Most of my experiences however with everyone else has been solid . Iām happy to see this space here in Woodlawn. This is wonderful place to stop by after work or weekends. They have happy hour every day home cooked dishes . I hope to see the menu grow and expand in different ways . I spontaneously did karaoke one Friday night with a friend and it was so fun to sing with the staff. I love to stop by from time to time to enjoy the ambiance and peaceful atmosphere. God bless the owner and the chefs and team. 1 love- Ebony , Kay & all of the ladies and the first chef are wonderful. Thank you for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe service wasn't good. Upon entering, I didn't know whether to wait or seat myself. I had to find someone to ask. I patiently waited for a server about 40 minutes. The restaurant was short staffed with 2 servers. 1 of the servers seemed like she didn't have a clue. For example, I asked if I could order my appetizer & main course at same time and I received both at same time. I asked her why didn't the appetizer come before the main course and she said they came together because they were on the same ticket. The other server, from what I witnessed, received constant reprimand by the owner during my entire time there. It was very unprofessional. I was embarrassed for the server. The food was mediocre and not many choices. My Salmon was overcooked and the same sides comes with different choices of meat. I was surprised and disappointed the restaurant was out of chicken included as an ingredient in 1 of the appetizers & rolls among other meals 2 hours after opening on a Friday night. Needless to say, I didn't have a good experience and it is most likely that I...
