Monkey Rock Trail is a gem—short, accessible, and bursting with breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe. Starting just behind Tunnel Creek Café in Incline Village, the route is under 2.6 miles round-trip with about 500 feet of elevation gain—pleasantly moderate for most hikers, families, or even pups on leashes. The hike begins on a paved incline before shifting into a dirt path through fragrant pines. You can choose the gentler winding route or a steeper shortcut that gets you to the viewing ledge faster—either way, the payoff is worth it.

Moderate less than a mile and a half on a sandy trail to a great view and a rock that looks like a monkey. Well worth it. Parking is roughly $6 an hour at the trail head and can be done in an hour or more if you want to take your time. $2 per person for the trail although there wasn’t a pen to fill out the envelope. More of an honor system.

The Monkey Rock Trail is definitely at an greater incline. There are two paths that can take you to Monkey Rock. One is at very high incline roughly anout 70-75 degrees and the other one is around the mountain (a bit easier to climb and hike) but either of them will lead to an amazing views! Definitely worth it!

There are $12 parking lot only can lead to the monkey rock view point. On the way to the view point there are two paths that lead to up, one is challenging and another is less difficult one. We tried the incline path route (left side) it was very hard and though, however you can get the view point real quick like in 20 mins!

On your left, there are big rocks, and on the side of the trail you will reach the Monkey Rock! The rock itself was smaller than I expected but similar ! You can see amazing views with...

Tip-Top, what a rock. Travelled all the way from the centre of the Great British Empire (Rule Britannia) to see this. It looks like a monkey from one side. Well, more a sitting ape. But from the other side it doesn’t look like a monkey or an ape. Other rocks around it are cool for climbing (and posing - that matters) on, so well...
