Falling apart, barely maintained if at all, sporadic times of sheer blackness at night due to either negligent malfunction of the lighting system or negligent maintanence of such making the drive through the place an array of dangers. Nearly no offered facilities except portable toilets- this place is about as unfriendly, inhospitable, and dull. All aside from the fact that it is located between 2 of the cities worst neighborhoods making even getting to the place unsafe but then finding safe parking or the possibility of assistance near if needed is almost non existent. As a lifelong resident of the north Brookside Park addition- I would like to say this place is atrocious and people that drive on by or worse use the place for frisby golf while they ignore the homeless, the garbage, the unmaintained creek, falling apart unused buildings and terrible general maintenance contribute as much to the problem as they do the patronage. FOR SHAME INDIANAPOLIS PARKS DEPT AND CERTAINLY PATRONS DOING DISSERVICE AND ABUSING GREEN SPACE ALOTTED FOR EVERYONE. WAY TO "RUIN IT" FOR THE ENTIRE CITY. DO BETTER INDY JUST...
ย ย ย Read moreThis is an older city park with a creek, short hills, basketball, swimming pool, community center, playground, recycling truck, foot bridge, flood control basin, disk golf course, mature trees, picnic shelters, gated baseball diamonds, wooded patches and lawn, ample parking. Pokemon Go and Ingress can be played here. Brookside Parkway bordering the park to the south has been newly paved in 2017 and is smooth. Inside the park pavement is pockey and aged, motor traffic is generally light and slow. The motor route N/S through the park meanders widely and is not efficient for regular through traffic. One road is closed to motorized traffic and is an exciting incline for cyclists and pedestrians. There are picnic areas on both sides...
ย ย ย Read moreI have lived near the park for 3 years now. This year was my first attempt to take advantage of the pool. The pool was at capacity both times. It didn't seem to be crowded al all. Then I noticed the amount of lounge chairs. There definitely is not enough seating to accommodate the public or the population that lives near๐. The playgrounds have been demolished for over a year, and there is no sign of being replaced. The grass is always overgrown and is never kept neatly. One of only 2 Frisbee parks that has avid visitors is not kept to its best. Falling branches are visibly noticeable. I would be great to have a nice city park available for the community to enjoy. Instead of what is...
