Framed and assaulted Picture this: You visit this shop to get a picture framed (I do this rarely) since I bought 3 paintings recently, one unframed, and in a whirlwind of activity, Mr. Ed presented my cost at $700. A couple changes sent the cost upward, without me knowing how much, it's just not mentioned during the process (which has characteristics of a timeshare presentation) Reluctantly, I signed, left, and felt I'd been scammed with no cost disclosure mentioned during the price escalation. Upset with myself, I didn't pick up the painting for nearly two months. I did call back to get the price reduced by $50 by downgrading the glass quality. Still, a 31"x22" frame for $650?
When I returned to pick it up this week, Mr. Ed was there, clean shaven, ready to collect. In his shop I told him I had some dissatisfaction about having the price escalate without me knowing, and then, he went ballistic! Mr. Ed transformed into a screaming lunatic. For twenty torturous minutes, or longer, he followed me around (because he was so incensed that I brought this up, he could not figure how to work the credit card machine, or he didn't want to because he held onto my card during the entire, longer-than-necessary screaming session) I stepped outside to wait him finish the transaction, but he followed me outside screaming and getting right into my face with some weird death stare, steam blowing out of his ears , his distance away from me about the same as a fight weigh-in for a UFC bout - but I was staying cool! Even employees from adjacent businesses came outside because of his SCREAMING. He got right in my face about 5 or 6 times. This guy comes with a written warning. This is absolutely the scariest retail experience I've ever had, because this weirdo is the poster child for passive/aggressive behavior. I guess his behavior is included in the $650 rant. That's what I paid him and this is how he treated me. He shouldn't even be in business as a threat to any customer that enters his store: Picture this. a retail nightmare that actually happened. You have...
Read moreI had this oversized poster of Indianapolis Neighborhoods which was something like 44 x 46 that I wanted dry-mounted. The mainstream stores, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, etc were not able to handle dry mounting this size. On a tip from someone at the Michaels store, I contacted Ed at Picture Perfect at 4pm on a Saturday afternoon. After describing what I needed, Ed not only knew what poster I had, but was also able to handle the work immediately. I told him I'd be right there.
After arriving, Ed showed me several of these posters he had already mounted. He educated me on the various materials and explained their differences and answered all my questions; far more service and knowledge than what I would have gotten from a mainstream store.
Anyway after some time, he offered to press mount the poster I had brought in (as opposed to simply exchanging it for one he already mounted). This is what I really wanted. Without a second thought, he began to prepare his machine and prep the poster while I looked around the shop. We spoke on and off about various things and he explained more about the process and his business. I was impressed at some the work I saw in his shop, but mostly I was impressed with the level of service and information I was getting from Ed. It was truly a nice experience.
I don't have a lot of framing and picture mounting needs, but if/when I do I will be sure to use Ed and his services in the...
Read moreI had a fantastic experience from start to finish. I had completed a marathon and found Ed on Angie's List to have the bib, picture and medal framed. Ed struck a great balance between offering his expertise without designing everything for me. Despite having several customers in the store he did not rush me in the slightest.
The pricing was more than fair - it was very comparable if not better than the 50% off prices that you find at some of the large national retailers.
The quality was excellent. I was pleasantly surprised at the attention to detail when I picked it up. It looked great, but also had some small touches that I appreciated. For example, he had taped a small bag to the hanging line on the back with a nail and metal hanger to hang the frame. He also was nice enough to send a picture message over when the frame was done to let me know it was ready.
Ed takes pride in his work and understands what it means to have great customer service. I will be Picture This Framing for me framing needs...
