My daughter went by herself after a game, and I met her later to pay her bill. She said the pho was just OK. She has ordered pho at many restaurants in search of the best one so I trust her. The problem for me was the woman working there. I came in, acknowledged the woman who was standing behind her counter, and sat down with my daughter. I let the woman know I was not planning to order. She then stood there staring - no, glaring - at me for what seemed like minutes. I was so uncomfortable I finally asked her if it was OK I was there. She then asked, “She OK?” I confirmed with my daughter that she was good and let the woman know. Incidentally, my daughter is deaf and uses ASL so that’s why the woman checked with me. She then said quite firmly, “You pay here,” as she pointed at the counter. “Of course I will pay for her meal,” I replied. So I did pay her. I thought that was the end of it but she then moved over behind the plant on the counter and continued to stare at me through the plant! My daughter and I were simply sitting there chatting while she finished her pho. Finally the woman went to the back. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. I still have no clue what the problem was and why she was staring us down like that. It was extremely uncomfortable and...
Read moreMy husband & I just visited this restaurant. We ordered the shrimp rolls (appetizer) & that literally was it. A shrimp rolled in a wrapper & fried. We also ordered a few other dishes. Egg drop soup- was good. Twice cooked pork - my husband was not impressed. Combination fried rice - was good. Crunchy Noodle- was okay. Now, for the ambiance- upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a 50-60 year old gentleman who was a bit of an oddball. He took our drink order & yelled it out to whoever was in the kitchen. This gentleman was making phone calls throughout our dining experience talking/cursing in both English & Vietnamese. He was a loud talker. Talking about picking up young chicks, going to the clubs & titty bars. If you don't mind listening to this old gentleman's personal conversations, which included finding a job & a few not so positive life choices, you would be copacetic. Which, apparently, is this man's...
Read moreLike others have said, this place is a no frills (clean) eatery but the food is delicious and the prices are fair. Talking with the owner, this place has been in operation for 20 years. I had the pleasure of stopping in for lunch on a Saturday. I could see why they have been in business for 20 years.
Lunch wasn't very busy and I decided to order the Banh Xao and the Pho Tai. The Banh Xao exterior was thin like a crepe and stuffed with bean sprouts, pork, and shrimp. It wasn't oily and the filling had good flavor by itself. Throw the fish sauce on and devour every last bite.
The Pho Tai was also excellent. The broth was clean and had good flavor. Noodles were just fine and the Pho came with all of the regular sides. The beef was tender and was just the right amount.
Overall, with the downturn in quality and service from my previous go to in Westfield, I think I've found a more than suitable alternative. Can't wait...
