Though my experience is limited, I'd say this is the best farmer's market I've been to in the Midwest. It perfectly projects the qualities of the city of Iowa City onto a farmer's market. A variety of sellers, mostly food, but including soaps, jewelry, purses, and other handmade items. a few booths make ready-made food for a meal while you're shopping. Bike valet available. Program for needy families to get fresh food available. Lawn games and chalk available. The location in the parking garage is very useful in cases of rain or other bad weather. The public library's bookmobile visits here. Patronage of all ages, mostly white democrats and left-leaning people, including cottagecore folks and hippies. Variety of socioeconomic classes. Most venders travel to sell here, most are 40s+, most have loyalty bias towards regulars, but willing to serve newcomers. Most products cost more than you would find at the grocery store or department store; a few are more moderately priced, especially vegetables. Many venders have restrictions on payment method, including no coins, cash only etc. Venders do bring a limited supply of products and tend to run out during the day, so don't expect a huge selection if you're coming at 11:30a or later. Some venders...
Read moreI love this farmers' market and I miss it so much in the winter. They have a fantastic selection of vendors offering produce, baked goods, prepared foods, crafts, and other items. They usually have a fun activity for the kids and live music (yay! ). It's a fun place to grab a quick bite for breakfast and relax. There is a stand with egg rolls that are amazing! I also love a stand that has really yummy scones with unique flavors (like smoked gouda!!). Also available are farm fresh eggs, bird houses, coffees, smoothies.... well, needless to say there is a lot. Be sure to bring cash as not all vendors take cards. Free parking in blue ramp on Farmers...
Read moreI absolutely adore the Iowa City Farmer's Market! Strategically placed in a parking garage it provides a nice, shaded, and cool area to buy goods from local vendors. There are tons of tasty veggies to choose from, neat handy crafts, delicious baked goods, and so much more! The vendors are super friendly and the flow of the market is busy but in a good way. Many vendors do take debit/credit card payments in case you are wondering. They also have a space where you can sit and listen to live music and enjoy some food from one of the many food trucks/tents. If you're ever wondering what you should do on a Saturday morning go check out the IC...
