Uncle Sun — Restaurant in Iowa City

When i arrived at the restaurant, I noticed the worker placing plates/bowls on a table ignoring i even enter the establishment. A few minutes after she finished setting up the table she asked me what I would like to order, I told her I would need to look at the menu a little longer since it was my first time eating there she says okay. Not even 5 minutes later a dasher comes in for an order and she tells him it not ready 5 min. Goes into the kitchen and does whatever she did. While shes in the kitchen 3 customers come in one carrying a 6 pack of beer and opens one. They all sit down at the table she placed the plates/bowls at, she then comes out of the kitchen not with any doordash orders. She has food in her hands and places it on the table where the 3 customers are sitting. I think they are family because no establishment will allow you to bring alcohol into their place because they usually sell it themselves. And she talked to them like she knew them. After that she walked into the kitchen and grab doordash orders complete ignoring me when I wanted to order. I placed my order, I got the sweet and sour chicken with white rice. I honestly don't recommend the sweet and sour chicken. It mostly fried batter around a small piece of chicken. The rice was okay. Honestly I would rather go to a store and get a frozen entrée of sweet and sour chicken over ordering from here again. I think they should retrain their employees on how to be professional and not allow outside food or drink into their place of business and make sure they are attending to their customers before their family. I had order takeout on 12/13/23 and it got to my house by the time estimated. The food was great. We ordered the sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and some crab rangoons. My problem was for the second time an employee begged me for a top and when I politely declined she kept insisting thats the only way she will be paid. She refused to hand me the food and kept insisting I tip her. I kept telling her no and eventually she gave me to food. I'm not here to argue the value of tipping people at I do however find being begged for a top extremely uncomfortable and we won't be ordering here again as this was a second incident we had with a delivery driver holding our food hostage in a way for a tip. I’m here on business from NYC and I do enjoy good Chinese food. This restaurant delivers. It is very charming that a little boy and his sister are manning the front and the boy was very helpful and polite in finding what dish I wanted. The food was excellent. I had the beef hot pot, which was huge Andrew delicious and probably enough for two people to share. I also had the grilled eggplant, which my wife makes often at home and is one of my favorites. This version of the eggplant is one of the best I’ve had. Value was very good for the meal, considering the high quality of the food and the quantity as well.
