A cute hidden gem in downtown Iowa City. Parking can be tricky on a busy day, but we found a spot in the nearby parking garage, which worked well. They brought waters to our table quickly, which was a nice touch.

There were a couple of hiccups with our order—they forgot a dish, and my friend specifically asked for no cashews, but they still added them (thankfully, no allergies). That said, the server was super apologetic and fixed everything quickly, so I appreciate the effort.

Now, onto the food—Thai Flavors definitely lives up to its name! Probably the best Thai food I’ve had in Iowa City. The Pad Thai was perfectly balanced, not overly sweet, with great texture. The red curry was rich, warm, and packed with flavor, and the pineapple fried rice had just the right mix of sweet and savory. The gyoza and egg rolls were super fresh and crispy—highly recommend those too!

The atmosphere is relaxed, the service was okay (minus the mix-ups), and the prices are reasonable. Overall, I’d come back just for the food.

Highly recommend:

✅ Gyoza or egg rolls for appetizers ✅ Pad Thai ✅ Red curry ✅ Pineapple fried rice

A chill spot to hang out with friends and talk—not too crowded even on a...

I've been coming to this restaurant and ordering takeout for over a year now and never have I had a problem until today. I ordered what I always order, Red Curry which comes with bamboo, green beans, bell peppers, and sweet basil. I order that with no bell peppers and add potatoes. We ordered for take out and my curry had no potatoes, no green bean and it came with pineapple. Now I live right above the restaurant, so we went down and talked to the chef. He gives me another curry with carrots, potatoes, onions still no green beans and now barely any Bamboo. We go down again and the lady who took our order over the phone now tells us that there has been a change of the menu online. How was I suppose to know this when ordering? And then the same girl who took our order puts the blame on the "new" servers and the "new"chef. But yet she was the one who took our order. I understand that my order could've gotten mistaken with the pineapple curry but to mess up my order two times is ridiculous. I hope they figure out this...

I ordered a large Tom Kha soup for takeout and it was an obnoxiously small portion in quite a large container. It seemed the guy running the pay counter was even a bit alarmed, but did and said nothing to recognize the problem.

When I got home to pour it into a bowl, thinking the container may have been deceiving, it didn’t measure up whatsoever. An adequate single serving at best. I am really worried for those ordering a small... they’ll go hungry.

In addition, the soup was just okay. It was overly sweet and quite unimpressive. I could have poured a bowl of coconut milk and nuked it for a similar experience.

This isn’t to bash the establishment as a whole.... I’ve been ordering curries and noodles from this joint for the past few years, but this experience was a complete let-down. The value was simply...

Went to Thai Flavors during the block party last weekend. They were busy and the service was good. The food was delicious as well. The spice level was perfect! I had two and my husband had 3. We were worried it wouldn't be spicy due to NaRa in CR spice levels didn't seem that strong but we are probably more on the high spicy tolerance level side. I had the drunken noodles, husband had chicken fried rice and we shared the Hawkeye roll. The Hawkeye is something I highly recommend as a fresh veggie side to go with the carbs. The roll has a peanut sauce that pairs perfectly and isn't too sweet like other appetizer sauces. 1/25/25- Another visit here and the food was good. Spicy noodles and mango sticky rice for dessert this time. I told them to add some more spice and it was spicy in a good way - just enough for me.

Really enjoyed our food. We shared between the two of us: the potstickers and Tom Yum soup (large). The Tom Yum would have also worked for three people since we had another appetizer. I had the Angry Dish with shrimp. I have enough left for another meal so I was given a container and am excited to eat it tomorrow. We were told the dishes we picked were two out or five stars. Definitely spicy at only 2 stars. I love spicy and had also ordered a Thai Iced Tea which helped! Would definitely eat here again.

First time dining at Thai Flavors today! Went based on a recommendation from an employee at a previous business we had just visited. WOW! This place is great! The food is AMAZING! We had the drunken fried rice with chicken, Thai toast, and pad Thai - all were extremely delicious! What made our visit extra special was our wait person - Kendall. She was so sweet, so helpful about menu items, and just all around made our visit great. We don't live in Iowa City, but we'll be back! <3
