A cute hidden gem in downtown Iowa City. Parking can be tricky on a busy day, but we found a spot in the nearby parking garage, which worked well. They brought waters to our table quickly, which was a nice touch.
There were a couple of hiccups with our order—they forgot a dish, and my friend specifically asked for no cashews, but they still added them (thankfully, no allergies). That said, the server was super apologetic and fixed everything quickly, so I appreciate the effort.
Now, onto the food—Thai Flavors definitely lives up to its name! Probably the best Thai food I’ve had in Iowa City. The Pad Thai was perfectly balanced, not overly sweet, with great texture. The red curry was rich, warm, and packed with flavor, and the pineapple fried rice had just the right mix of sweet and savory. The gyoza and egg rolls were super fresh and crispy—highly recommend those too!
The atmosphere is relaxed, the service was okay (minus the mix-ups), and the prices are reasonable. Overall, I’d come back just for the food.
Highly recommend:

Read moreI've been coming to this restaurant and ordering takeout for over a year now and never have I had a problem until today. I ordered what I always order, Red Curry which comes with bamboo, green beans, bell peppers, and sweet basil. I order that with no bell peppers and add potatoes. We ordered for take out and my curry had no potatoes, no green bean and it came with pineapple. Now I live right above the restaurant, so we went down and talked to the chef. He gives me another curry with carrots, potatoes, onions still no green beans and now barely any Bamboo. We go down again and the lady who took our order over the phone now tells us that there has been a change of the menu online. How was I suppose to know this when ordering? And then the same girl who took our order puts the blame on the "new" servers and the "new"chef. But yet she was the one who took our order. I understand that my order could've gotten mistaken with the pineapple curry but to mess up my order two times is ridiculous. I hope they figure out this...
Read moreI ordered a large Tom Kha soup for takeout and it was an obnoxiously small portion in quite a large container. It seemed the guy running the pay counter was even a bit alarmed, but did and said nothing to recognize the problem.
When I got home to pour it into a bowl, thinking the container may have been deceiving, it didn’t measure up whatsoever. An adequate single serving at best. I am really worried for those ordering a small... they’ll go hungry.
In addition, the soup was just okay. It was overly sweet and quite unimpressive. I could have poured a bowl of coconut milk and nuked it for a similar experience.
This isn’t to bash the establishment as a whole.... I’ve been ordering curries and noodles from this joint for the past few years, but this experience was a complete let-down. The value was simply...
