What an awful experience myself and my young family has had here the last few weeks.
First, my 8 year old has an SCGA membership, but they still charge $14 for a medium bucket, stating that’s their discounted rate! Other local ranges charge well under $10, some nice ones just $2!
Secondly, Oak Creek’s putting green has been closed on and off for weeks. The last 3 times I’ve visited, the putting green was closed every single time, but the staff say don’t worry it will be open but they have no estimated timing.
Lastly, the final straw was today. My two young kids 8 and 4 years old came with me today for the first time to Oak Creek to learn the game and practice, they are new to the game. Again, paid $14 for SCGA membership overpriced driving balls for my kids, then noticed the putting green was closed AGAIN. So near the end of our stay after the driving range, we walked over to the other open putting/chipping area, and started putting quietly with my family teaching them the basics of putting on an empty hole. An Oak Creek worker named Dennis randomly approaches me and suddenly reprimands me in front of my kids for putting there, noting it’s a chipping only area and they require a shag tooth…and he then so slyly replied there are no more left today, basically implying we should go home. Quietly we began packing, amused as in the background behind me are people putting and chipping away with no shag tooth, but this jerk had the nerve to say all this only to my family and that the putting greens are always open…except only today!
What a travesty. So sad that this is the state of my local club. I now plan to take my business elsewhere until they fix these serious issues with the way the staff charges juniors and generally carry themselves. I’ll be advising all my fellow golf enthusiasts and family/friends/ neighbors to all consider clubs elsewhere, esp if...
Read moreMy husband and I were married at Oak Creek on August 11, 2013. We had perfect weather, amazing food (we did the BBQ option and have gotten so many compliments on that choice!), and the whole outdoor setting was perfect. The pictures turned out great! The whole day was so spectacular -- more beautiful and enjoyable than we even hoped for! We never noticed golfers (they were pretty much gone by the time 4pm rolled around) and we felt like we had the whole entire place to ourselves (because we did - unlike all the hotels we looked at). We did the whole day outdoors and opted not to use the indoor banquet room, except as a children's play area, which worked out great. All the work Lorrie deBellis (Catering Manager) and her staff did to make it run smoothly, look fabulous, and minimize stress for our family and us was SO appreciated! Her obvious experience and demeanor through the whole process was such a blessing, and she was so fun to work with!! I recommend Oak Creek as a wedding venue whenever I get a chance -- I wish I could live the whole day over again! It was the perfect way to start our marriage.
While the whole thing was not cheap, it actually was less expensive than almost all comparable options in the Irvine/Newport area, and we felt like we got WAY more for our money than other hotels and golf courses in the immediate area (like Strawberry Farms, which charges extra for everything, isn't as private, is right next to a parking lot, and isn't as flexible.)
I honestly don't have one negative thing to say about Oak Creek and all the people there. 5 stars...
Read moreThis was the worst professional experience ever!!!!!! To start the Proshop manger or assistant was highly unprofessional and unwelcominging to some one paying the amount for this club. Second we paid with a card for a bucket of balls and left a card at the desk to pay for the round, when we returned they had lost one of the two cards left at the desk. The front desk then started that they're not allowed to leave cards at the front ( but they did). So we paid $600 for 3 golfers and was told to start our round while they looked for the lost card. This was never found!!! To make matters worse while playing the 4th hole the same individual came out to the hole a dammed he needed a card for the 4th guy and stated that he couldn't find the card. This was highly unprofessional. He was very rude and never apologized for the the lost card or behavior in the pro shop which caused extremely embarrassing environment. Next we purchased 4 sandwiches on the turn from the cart girl and they all had paper on the cheese!!! You can't make this up. The bar manger apologizeed and gave us a round of beers and stayed they have new staff. Last but not least I purchased a pair for Jordan Golf shoes and was told I can pick then up after the round and of course this was misplaced or lost as well. The Golf course was nice, besides the poor service by...
