We recently had a disheartening experience here, and I feel compelled to share my concerns to warn others. While the setting and horses themselves were appealing, the overall safety and customer care were severely lacking.
Upon arrival, it became evident that the owner prioritizes profit over rider safety. The waiver we were required to sign essentially absolved the facility of any responsibility, placing all accidents squarely on the riders' shoulders.
The most alarming aspect was the lack of proper horse training. During our ride, two horses were allowed to race without clear instructions, leaving us confused about how to control them. The owner's contradictory commands only added to the chaos.
Tragically, one horse's aggression resulted in it kicking another, causing serious injury to my friend's foot. Despite the severity of the situation, the owner's response was inadequate. Instead of taking immediate action, he admitted he couldn't handle all four horses and insisted we continue riding with him.
To our dismay, we found ourselves screaming in fear while the owner continued to urge the horses forward. The situation worsened when he enlisted the help of a young child from our group, putting the child in a distressing position.
The entire ordeal left us shaken and horrified. As patrons with prior riding experience, we expected a safe and enjoyable outing. Regrettably, the owner failed to provide even the basic standards of customer care and safety.
I strongly advise potential visitors to think twice before choosing this facility for horse riding. The owner's negligence and disregard for rider safety make this establishment a risky and...
Read moreThis is my second riding experience with Colon and will definitely be back for more.
I have ridden horse for decades, all over the world and Colon makes the top 5 best riding experiences in the world. Unlike most places that specialize in horseback walking because they take multiple people out at once… beginner, novice, intermediate and experienced and you know what happens… anything above a walk is taboo. You have to hang back and sneak a 50ft gallop…. If u can get the horse to even cooperate .
Colon is the opposite, if u want to run/gallop you will and a LOT. If u want to trot you will trot and a Lot. You are in control of your horse. And they have wonderful healthy horses that don't seem to like “follow the leader”.
Colon likes to take smaller private groups, like your own private ride, but without the $$ markup for private. You riders out there know what I mean. And If u have diversity experience in your group they will accommodate.
So be very up front with them and you and your group will experience the Time of your life.
Don’t be intimidated by the trek to viequez. Ciebo ferry runs everyday, all day. Have u there in 30 minutes. And Colon really is a 5-7 min walk from the ferry. So if you are in the east coast of Puerto Rico and tired of the rainforest ripoff and want to really experience an amazing horseback adventure, and on the beach, give Abigail and...
Read moreI absolutly LOVED our horse backriding experience with this company! We had a private tour for 4 eople at 4 pm. We arrived early to do the paper work, got our helmets, our 4 beautiful horses TripleH, Fox, Storm and Banana and started off with our Tour guide Johnny and the little Dog Bobo! after about 10 min of going through the street we go to the breathtaking path by the ocean. And continued for about 40ish min, up and down the coast until we got to swim with our lovely horses and little Bobo didn't shy away and joined. It was the cutest thing ever. I had the most amazing time riding my horse storm on that gorgeous trail! was kind of sad when we started heading back! I just didn't want it to be over. I would take this ride any day, any time!...
